CCLQ @ The Bluff {Wednesday/Arrival Day}

(9/23) WEDNESDAY morning... Travel Day and we were off, again!  This time our destination was Upstate New York and the shores of Lake Ontario, but first, a stop at Sheets.  It came with a view:

And then, Ruth B. got boxed in by 2 tractor-trailers and missed her exit.  The one on her left wanted to go RIGHT and the one on her right wanted to go LEFT.  Poor, Ruth was stuck in the middle.  Joy saw the whole thing in her rear view mirror... It was a terrifying sight!!  Joy, Britt, and Deborah contacted the other car to find out if Ruth, Candy, and Joanna wanted us to wait for them.  This very nice rest stop along the PA Turnpike took up almost enough time for them to catch up.

A little while later, this rest area was just the ticket!  We were, once again, traveling together:

Views pretty enough to be a quilt:

And a van full of Great Dane show dogs:

Good luck at the Show:

Check out this sign!  In NY, they have Text Stops:

Speaking of texts...

We got a text from DeeDee and Ella.  They had shopper's envy and set out on their own shopping adventure today:

With tummies rumbling, our Cruise Director located another funky cafe:

THIS was their mascot:

And HERE is their menu:

The rest of us treated Joanna to lunch.  Does anyone know why???

Once we were back on the road, Joy took out her knitting needles to work on her Traveling Scarf... the PERFECT project to bring along on our adventure:

Watch out!!  You don't want to miss out on the views passing by the car window:

Oh, look!  We're almost there:

Getting closer!  There are apple orchards everywhere, pruned for ease of picking:

There she is!!  Ruth is busy showing us where to park:

THIS was our first look at the Dining Cottage:

And THIS was our first view of  Lake Ontario:

You've been warned:

It may be a hazy afternoon (5:00 PM arrival), but it's SEW beautiful up here:

Our "tour guide" is leading the way to the Sewing Cottage:

Thank you, Mary Jeanne!!  Your cottage was PERFECT for our retreat:

Ruth S. even had numbers set up for our place holders and scrap bags at each spot:

The entire living room had been transformed into a cutting station:

HERE is the glorious sunset that welcomed us to The Bluff:

We met John and Mary Augusta @ sunset.  Many of the neighbors come out to watch each night.

Photo credit goes to Deborah.  The sunset was spectacular!!  However, not even this last shot shows just how purple the sky was or the way the light played on the "flat spots".  Amazing!!

Once the sun had set, we were off to the Dining Cottage for a late dinner... and please note that the following photo was taken in mid verse.  Hence the funny faces:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOANNA!!!

You REALLY know how to celebrate in style!!  How did you manage to get our retreat scheduled during your birthday week???  Now EVERYONE will want a Quilt Retreat for their birthday!!!

Until next time...
RETREAT!!!
