8/21/25: CCLQ at Maggie’s

Welcome to the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!  This week quilters met at Maggie’s home.  The weather was perfect for meeting on the back porch.

DeeDee started the meeting with another fun Christmas table runner for the the Passmore Center Holiday Craft Sale.

DeeDee’s big reveal was this awesome stuffed skeleton for Harbor.

DeeDee pondered….”I need a really big box to ship this.”  Maggie just happened to have the right sized box.

Deborah finished quilting this quilt made of left over fabric from the Storm at Sea project.  She used Jacquie Gering’s “tunneling triangles” to quilt this.  Check out Jacquie’s website here.  She has published two books, Walk and Walk 2.0.  Deborah purchased Walk 2.0 and will be glad to share this book!  Great quilting ideas and instructions.

Britt recently quilted a quilt for Lynda and attended the NT nights meeting.

Here’s the beautiful piece Britt worked on for the green fabric challenge.

Maggie made this adorable donation quilt. Sarah Porrecca quilted it.

8/14/25 CCLQ @ Cheryl's

Welcome all to the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters blog.  A small group meet at Cheryl's and we solved problems, ate some quiche, did some show-n-tell and had some laughs.  What more could we ask for.

Lynda had to drop off some fabric but wasn't able to stay for the whole meeting.  But the quote of the day was: "Little bit of quilty joy goes a long way to boost your spirit".

Cheryl had some bad news her machine was not working.  She hit a pin and the alignment went wonky.  She was working on another Josephine's Knot when this happened.  We went to view the progress and quess what.  She powered on the machine to show us the problem and it electronically reset it self and the alignment went back correctly.  How wonderful is that.

As we were talking about aprons Cheryl got out one she made with Stephen's old ties.

Deedee had the big bag of show that started off with two pin cushions ready for some walnut shells.  If you recognize these blocks then you remember Ruth B's quilt made from reproduction fabrics a number of which she got from a group trip to MaryJo's.

Deedee has started making items to be sold at the Passmore Holiday Market.  She made 2 runners from some snowman border fabric ... they look totally different when wider strips are used.  The backing "shirting" red stripe is a perfect use.

Another Holiday table topper all done just waiting for Nov 22nd.

Group discusion about what to do with this panel.  We all thought it should stay together with just some borders added.  The snowflakes at top/bottom may be incorporated in the border ... or not.

Deedee shared this Nonagon weaving she worked on with her Fiber Art Group.  A great way to use up fabric strips.

This is the template design that started it off.

Nonagon weaving refers to the creation of woven projects on a loom that's shaped like a nonagon, a polygon with nine sides.

Deborah also had something new to show-n-tell about.  She was inspired by the design found on the packaging of a bottle.  The pattern is Japanese called Asanoha.

A week back she showed us a paper pattern of what she wanted to do and since then she has a book by Jacquie Gering that walked her thru a more complex pattern and it sure was worth it.

This is her practice piece before doing the technique on her quilt.

Other side

Maggie showed a finished child donation quilt that was made from the Eliza Pattern that Deedee shared.  And it was fitting that the Flamingo backing fabric also came from her.

Maggie also showed a couple of fabric purchases from Sewingly Yours in Lewisville NC.

Gayle has a nother fellowship quilt done teal and pink being the recipients colors.  The quilt got some artistic transport in her gelli printing tote bag.

That's all for this week.

it is the most beautiful month I know.”
