5/7/15 - CCLQ @ Ella's House

Hello, Quilters!

Today, CCLQers were at Ella's house for our weekly meeting.  You would think that we hadn't seen each other in AGES!!  I was late and everyone was still coffee-ing and snacking when I arrived.  I led the slow parade into Ella (and Barry's) sewing room.  I'm all for snacking, but I was ready to get busy (and needed to stake out a spot at the cutting table!) on the project that I brought...

But first, a stop by the powder room.  Look, a quilt:

Upon entering the sewing room, I spotted this interesting stack of blocks on the table:

Later, Jean came in to claim them:

And then she showed all of them while explaining about the process:

Candy showed off her new tool purchased from Nancy's Notions:

Then she got down to the business of figuring how it works:

Dee Dee arranged the fabric that she brought back from Delaware:

We finally made it around to Ella's latest project.  It's an old UFO made before Baby J. was born:

After all the talking and sharing of quilt related stuff, we headed to Saxapahaw for lunch at The General Store.  It was my first time there and all I can say is...  YUM!!!

4/30/15 - CCLQ @ Jean's in Pittsboro

This week's CCLQ meeting was at Jean's house.  There were SEVEN members present and ONE guest.  It seemed rather strange to have such a small crowd.  Ruth B., Ruth S., Gayle, Cheryl K., and Linda don't know what they missed.

That's one reason we have this blog!  Through the wonders of technology, those missing members can grab their computer and a cup of their favorite drink and sit back to enjoy...

Oh, NO!!!  I forgot to get a picture of Ella!!  (Who remembered that Lisa still has her bracelet to make some adjustments!!)  Anyway... Ella wasn't working on anything today, so she sat patting our guest through the bulk of the meeting.

Our GUEST, Willie, was named honorary CCLQ member for the day.  He's shown here with Mom (in his UNC outfit donned for Candy's benefit.):

Jean made a new blouse out of some fabric she purchased on the recent NT Field Trip to Mary Jo's:

After Show and Tell, we took a studio tour to see what else Jean has been working on.  We walked past the "Wet" Studio:

LOOK at all that thread storage!!! (A little secret... there's MORE thread just out of frame on the right AND a BIG bank of quilt books, too!!!)

Rulers are hung with "Command" hooks for easy access.

NOTE: The following project was begun LONG before Pepper Cory came to DOQ in April!!!

She's pulling from this bin of ties that she de-constructed in March.

4/28/15 - NT Nights @ Hillsborough Library

We were very excited to have 6 members present at this evening's meeting.  Joy was hoping to get there and thought that she'd be late.  Luck was on her side and she arrived fairly close to on time.

Have a look at what everyone was working on...

Carol:

Put more hand quilting stitches in her current "commission" quilt.  (She's working on it for a friend.)

Margaret:

After working on hand stitching the binding down on her current baby quilt, she asked to a consult. Border fabric for her  Sparkling Jewels quilt (my name for it, not hers!).  Margaret had an interesting (QUICK!) pattern that she used at the DOQ Donation Quilt Workshop.

Britt:

Worked on cutting more pieces for her own Tiny Nine project.

Jill:

Worked on sewing down the binding on (what I assume will be) a Donation Quilt.

Linda had cutting to do:

And brought a wonderful selection of fabrics for her newest quilt.  She and her SIL will be taking a class together for this one.

Joy:

After asking what to do about the wonky borders of T3, she proceeded to sew HALF of the hanging sleeve down... before recalling that the recommendation was to do some quilting in the borders.  NOT so easily done, if the sleeve is already sewn into place!!  Oops!!  At least, it kept her busy for the evening.  LOL
