The week Ruth graciously stepped in to host the CCLQ group. Thank you Ruth! And even in the midst of packing up her house she found time to make us some delicious treats.
Once we got around to show and tell we had plenty to say. Jean started us off with a washed sample of the solid cottons from the Quilted Pineapple. As there is an upcoming sale she wanted to test the quality beforehand. I think it was a thumbs up result.
Jean busied herself with creating material for more stamps - this time she was taking apart cardboard. A little water made paper removal MUCH easier (and found out too water makes mush, lol).
She also shared a wonderful quilt which included some of the fabrics she purchased for 2 dollars a yard. Amazing! This one maybe destined for a special neighbor.

Britt had a tell about delivering a quilt to her sister during her recent trip to Santa Fe. The quilt was very well received and has now safely travelled to its new home in New Zealand.

Deedee was up next with a show of a quarter of a nicely scrappy quilt. She's not so sure she's cut out to be a scrap quilter (and others in the group could relate), but the quilt is looking good.
Deedee also mentioned a quilt show in High Point. Let her know if you are interested in going.
Cheryl K mentioned there is also an upcoming workshop and lecture by Jacqui Gering in Raleigh/Apex in October. Anyone interested might want to check into this. She also had 4 project updates!
Her shed quilt is coming together nicely.
She shared the fabric she plans to use in her t-shirt quilt and mentioned a plan is in place for her son and DIL's quilt. We also got a peek at some very cute fabrics she picked up during her travels - they are destined to be part of a baby quilt.
And lastly she shared fabrics which will be used to make her husband a bookbag. Aren't they perfect for that?
Cheryl B joined us (yay!) and worked on her hexi repair project. Check out the progress so far - looking good! She uses a very easy technique to make hexis with no paper involved.
She was persuaded to share her quilts even though a few of us had seen them at a previous meeting. Hey, we NEVER tire of seeing beautiful quilts! The first one is for a friend. The next is probably going to end up as a gift to her daughter. They were all fantastic.
This one is Ripples and Reflections and had Cheryl K itching to take it home. :)
Ruth reported on her house hunt and is still quite busy cleaning out her house and going thru her stash. Good luck with that Ruth!
Candy was working on a beautiful cross stitch piece.
And brought along a wonderful quilt top. While she originally intended this quilt to be for herself, she decided instead that it will be given for a silent auction fundraiser for a special nephew who is ill. Can't wait to see this one quilted.
The meeting ended with the group making quick work carting empty packing boxes upstairs for Ruth. The payoff was a chance to rifle thru Ruth's fabric donations. You know this gang - we will do anything for fabric!
Too many of us had errands or other plans, so no lunch report this week. Instead there's a special bonus update from 2 weeks ago. (Sorry for the delay, a trip to Santa Fe got in the way!)
CCLQ 7/6
A quick recap of the CCLQ meeting at Linda's house on July 6th.
We were a small group as some members were traveling or had competing plans. That left more chocolate chip muffins for the five of us who attended. They were yummy, thanks Linda!
Once we got the meeting underway, Ella reported she's working on a big project and feeling much better. Yay! We are so glad to hear she is back to sewing.
Cheryl brought out her black and white blocks and showed us a wonderful pinky-purple she's thinking of adding to the quilt top. We had fun trying out some ideas on how to add the pink in a semi-random way. Stay tuned to see how the top turns out.
She also updated us on her plan for the painted quilt block for her shed and is beginning design work on a t-shirt quilt. Sorry no picture...the photographer was too busy contemplating the design possibilities and forgot to snap a photo!

Candy shared some quilted picture frames she made and she and Linda shared a variety of photo frame patterns. Here's hoping these get snapped up at the Collective Market!
She also showed a small quilt she recently finished. Lovely colors!
Britt was still working away on the paper-pieced butterflies for her niece's quilt. Slowly but surely the pile is growing!
Linda was working on undoing a final border of a quilt as she felt it added a bit too much orange. We weighed in with thoughts about alternative color choices - can't wait to see the completed quilt. It's going to be stunning!
When it was time for lunch we trooped over to downtown Mebane only to find not one but TWO of our restaurant options were closed! Oh well, thankfully there is always yummy food to be had at Asian Harbor.
