3/7/19: CCLQ at Gayle’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week nine quilters met at Gayle’s new home! Gayle has beautifully decorated her home with a coastal theme and we all enjoyed seeing how she decorated with color and quilt art.  

Please forgive layout errors as the the blogger had technical difficulties with cutting and pasting.

Gayle created this wonderful triptych with fabric gifted from Jean and embroidered by Jean.  Gayle added appliqué and painted this piece resulting in a stunning underwater seascape.

Lynda worked on binding her bubble quilt.

This photo doesn't do justice to this gorgeous quilt. The flowers are Kaffe Fassett fabric and appliquéd on the polka dot fabric and borders. 

Deborah made a table topper for Family House. 

Oh my....it looks good on Gayle's coffee table with the star fish bowl. 

Deborah finished quilting border the Bargello quilt for her guest room.

DeeDee purchased a couple of Bargello Quilt books to share with the group. 

DeeDee shared this adorable bag made by Margaret.

Cheryl added the borders to the lovely gray and white quilt for Andrew and Mariann.

Margaret shared these new and creative  "Quilt as you go" blocks. 

Gayle sewed some binding on this wonderful appliqué wall quilt.

DeeDee brought this lovely daffodil plant as a house warming gift!  

Ruth S gave Gayle these beautiful placemats which will go so nicely with Gayle's color scheme. 

This fabric was the wrapping for a gift from Margaret. 

Margaret gave Gayle some lovely fabric and a pattern for making  beach themed kitchen towels. 

The group enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Saxapahaw General Store Cafe!

2/28/19: CCLQ at DeeDee's

The weeks are flying by!  The Cherry Creek Lane Quilters met at DeeDee's home this week with a whopping 13 quilters in attendance. DeeDee made delicious gluten free chocolate cookies!  We had a surprise guest as well.  So much show and tell this blogger had a hard time keeping up! 

Look at those accurate points!  This is a close up of the Storm at Sea block. DeeDee plans to make this quilt for a special friend. 

Dee Dee is not so sure she wants to paper piece all those blocks for a quilt.  With lots of encouragement from the group, I'm sure she will conquer this task and the end result will be a glorious quilt!

DeeDee made this sweet embroidered pillow case when she was 8 or 9 years old.

Jean made this wonderful quilt for a neighbor who moved. She used the pattern that Joanna drafted.

Ruth S shows her donation quilt made with fabric from Ella . 

Interesting....both Jean and Ruth used the same pattern that Joanna drafted. 

Ella made this beautiful therapy quilt after returning from Ohio. She used fabric from her collection. 

Lynda brought a couple of Sue Spargo books to show. 

This book by Sue Spargo has instructions for lots of very interesting and unusual embroidery designs. 

On a recent trip to Ohio, Cheryl's husband found this embroidered  quilt top in a random box. The maker remains a mystery.  

The maker saved the instruction sheet with photo. I couldn't resist doing a bit of research...click on this link if you want to see more about these cross-stitch quilts.   

Close up of the cross stitch work.  The group had fun discussing how to finish this nice handiwork. Some folks said just hem it and use it as a light weight summer bedspread.  Others said but a back on it and some said don't quilt it on a long-arm machine.    

Ruth S shows her beautiful yellow quilt. What a wonderful find! It will be quilted and used at the Bluff. 

Margaret shows this sample table topper which will be used at the Family House Volunteer Brunch.  This one has binding. Our group is making lots of these toppers for the brunch tables. 

Margaret also made a sample of a table topper finished using the pillow case method. 

Margaret cut a pattern from freezer paper to help with cutting the triangles and also to use for quilting design. 

Jean shared a table topper that she made.  Jean also supplied the group with pieces of felt cut in hexagon shape to use instead of batting. Thank you Jean!

Ruth B has made several blocks with her Ella fabric donation quilt. 

Britt was busy cutting small squares. 

Welcome to our birthday girl surprise guest!  Britt shows a  newly created  quilted box. 

She added feather quilting but it ended up on the bottom of the box. 

More nice quilting on the box. 

Britt is using the small blocks to make a Pecking Order quilt,  a free pattern tutorial from Missoui Star Quilt Company. 

Britt had lots of wonderful fabric to show from her adventure to Pineapple Fabrics.

Britt shared a sketch of her design for the NC Botanical Garden Wildflower Quilt.   The plant for this year is the Slender Leaf Mountain Mint.

Candy reported that her Ella quilt is underway and shared two patterns. Candy also emailed the group directions for the hexagon table toppers. 

Gayle finished the binding on this dazzling quilt.  Can't wait to see it displayed in her new home. 

Gayle worked on this  wonderful whimsical embroidery and appliqué wall quilt.  

Gayle also started a new quilt project to coordinate with the color palette of  her new home.

Deborah continues to work on the Blooming Nine Patch...hopefully it won't take five years to finish.
