10-12-23: CCLQ at Maggie’s

 Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week quilters met at Maggie’s.

Candy made a holiday table topper for the Senior Center Crafts fair.  

Candy also made a holiday bell block for a possible mug rug or table runner. 

Cheryl shared stories of her travels and visit with grandson.  Cheryl finished her holiday table topper. 

Ruth is working on the Kaffe Fassett quilt project and also shared plans for travel with her daughter next week. 

Deborah continues to work on several projects and plans to visit grandkids next week. 

Linda H has been going through fabric to make selections for the Round Robin project. 

Lynda M shared a story of working diligently on her Ladies quilt.  She likes to use her Singer Feather weight machine and during a frenzy of piecing, the machine froze. Lynda has had this machine over 60 years!  She took it apart, oiled and did all the necessary tune ups but to no avail. Britt has offered to take a look and she can’t fix it,  the machine will go for repairs. Lynda purchased a new Tilda book and will bring it next week. 

In preparation for the Round Robin, Maggie made a fabric covered cardboard storage booklet for the finished blocks. 

Maggie shared another idea of using a pool noodle to roll up the blocks to keep them from getting wrinkles. 

Maggie gave Linda some Thirties fabrics!

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.   Busy schedules and general life resulted in a small group of 3 at Candy’s but still had lots to talk about and ideas to share.

Cheryl started off by showing some donation trivets that will go to the "Tuesday Group" for the Senior Center Holiday Craft Fair scheduled for December 9th from 9am to 2pm.

Next she showed her 2nd quilt made from the lovely printed birds.  This one is being donated and the other will remain with her.

Maggie has 3 donation baby quilts that are for the next 3 weeks.  Count down is on to finish up this year long challenge of 1 a week.

Our hostest had quite the tell about a wonderful printed wideback.  As she always does this piece of fabric was prewashed a number of times and it continues to bleed and turn the color catches blue.  After calling Pineapple to ask if they knew anything about it ... they suggested

If the backing ever stops running this is the top that it will be quilted with.

Candy went through her photo albums after last week's talk about the chicken that kept trying to bite her when she was training for the Peace Corps.

Along with the infamous chicken photo she also has "fond" memories of the large scorpions that were a part of her Peace Corps experience.

9/28/23: CCLQ at Candy’s

 Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  Sorry this post is a bit late!  Today we had a small group at Candy’s but still had lots of fun quilts and ideas to share.

Carol brought a couple of wonderful Halloween quilts that she made for her Grandkids.

Carol finished another sweet donation quilt. 

Lynda started the Tilda fabric quilt and discovered that she made need more fabric.  The Cashmere Garden quilt is being quilted by Britt. 

Ruth was inspired by Gayle’s doggie fabric last week and went to Cary Quilting to purchase some for a pillow for her daughter. 

Ruth also some some nice complementary fabrics for this project. 

Ruth sketched our her plan for this pillow which will accent the playful dog fabric.

Deborah continues to work on the T-shirt quilts and also shared the backing fabric for the heart quilt. 

Ruth S’s husband Jeff was in Durham,  He had lunch with Deborah’s husband and sent delicious Honey Crisp apples for everyone from the orchard at The Bluff. 

Candy finished this lovely quilt as you go donation quilt.

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!

This week Ruth hosted six members and served up some unique granola ball treats.  

Maggie started by showing a few of the purchases that were done on the way to the Asheville Quilt Show.  Link to Show Photo's

 

Lynda has been busy with Britts help quilting this oh so lovely throw quilt.  Then she shared the Tilda blocks on her next beauty.

Candy found the companion fabrics for the dark sticks fabric at a trip with Ruth B. and Linda to Pineapple.  The purple and blue are perfect. She also got a bright yellow to work with the Paddington panel she got from Gayle.  And last up a Pineapple Wideback in a new fabric.   Linda presented Candy with the Pineapple Glasses since she won (big spender) on the trip.

Linda got some additional 30's fabrics to build up her collection.  

Deborah is coming along on the heart blocks made from the Ombreh fabric.  Amazing has one piece of fabric makes so different color blocks.

Gayle is sitting pretty and did share her cheer with the group.

Ruth B.  came across a panel in her stash that at one point she had a plan and started to cut around each kitty.  Stay tuned to see how they go back together.

Ruth also has her Round Robin fabrics picked out.  A number of members are planning on having a single block design done by each member using different fabrics.  The outcome with be a more cohesive style quilt than a typical sampler quilt.  The unique individual spins will certainly make for a fun reveal at the end.
