10/3/24: CCLQ at DeeDee’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters. This week quilters met at DeeDee’s home.  Lots of excitement was in the air about the upcoming DOQ quilt show and visit from Ruth S!  The group planned to meet on Friday at the show and go to lunch afterwards.

There was also discussion about Hurricane Helene and the devastation in the NC Mountains.  There are several places to donate disaster relief supplies, MapleView Ice Cream, Orange Grove Fire Department on Orange Grove Road. For other places check here:   Chapelboro Disaster Relief  Our thoughts and prayers are with the all the people affected by this storm.

Carol created two lovely quilts from some donated squares from the Tuesday group.

Carol is sewing the binding on this wonderful carpenter’s star wedding quilt.  Beautiful quilting by Gayle.

Candy had a fun trip to New York.  She reconnected with family and also some friends she worked with years ago in the Peace Corp.  One friend gave Candy this lovely batik fabric a while back and asked if she had made anything from it.  Candy asked for suggestions from the group and may create 5 wall hangings from this lovely fabric.

Lynda shared this holiday fabric from Pineapple Fabric.

Lynda has also been busy creating an amazing “After Quilt” from the fabric used in her Round Robin quilt. This will be the backing for her Round Robin Quilt.

Joy shared her creative DOQ Kid’s Challenge Quilt.

Cute alphabet backing fabric

Gayle finished this spectacular “Anything Goes” quilt top from Missouri Star Quilting pattern.

This line of fabric is sprinkled with whimsical metallic designs.

Gayle found this book in her collection and recalled that she made this beautiful quilt years ago. Also, notice the bag in Gayle’s lap…made from gelli printed fabric.

Ella reported that she has been busy spring cleaning her apartment.

DeeDee had lots to share.  She found this magazine that she saved because it had an article about Paula Nadelstern. https://paulanadelstern.com/

DeeDee had a big announcement!  Her sewing studio reorganization is complete!  Everyone enjoyed seeing the space.

This adorable quilt is hanging on the doorway.

DeeDee has purged 106.75 yards of fabric!  She has used 173.25 yards so far this year making quilts!
Way to go DeeDee!

Deborah attended the Sandhills Quilters Guild Quilt Show in Pinehurst last weekend.

Deborah’s sister picked out this fabric and Deborah plans to make a quilted bag for her sister’s birthday.

Deborah also purchased this ombré layer cake.

Enjoy the DOQ quilt show!  Happy quilting!

9/26/2024 CCLQ at Deborah's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.

This week Deborah hosted 8 quilters and here's the show-n-tell...

Lynda started off thrilled to show the group how adding a single blue border has really enhanced her challenge quilt we saw last week.  If calculations are correct she has just enough blue for binging.  Next up will be an "After Quilt" ... a pieced back that uses up all the fabrics left over from the front.

Deedee contiues with the mojo for making another table topper for the Holiday Market.  To finish she plans to pillow case keeping the zig-zag edge on the sides.  Then experiment with her machines decorative stitches.

Ella got to see the mini's made with some of her donated fabrics.  She's agreed they should be donated to the Show's Silent Auction.  She ran into a bit of an issue sewing this week she has no stash of needles so she's off to the store after the meeting.

Deborah got out one of Barry's quilt tops that she quilted/bound.  Now it is headed to the Guild Boutique.

Now for a real treat Deborah did a 3 quilt show of her Mother's quilts.  All were just lovely ... we hope to see more when Deborah hosts us next time...

Gayle had a grand 2 weeks at the beach doing a lot of sewing and an online class.  She purchased a couple of colors of Gauze fabric and has made a top with the white.  It's just so cozy looking.

And she brought her Challenge quilt for turn in to the Guild for the show Oct 4-6th.

Maggie finished a quick runner that will be in the Senior Center Holiday Market Sale - NOVEMBER 23rd 10-2 at Passmore in Hillsborough.

Carol showed two carpenter star tops that are to be gifted. The first is being handed off to Gayle for quilting.  The 2nd still needs backing.

Linda now has an "After Quilt" to serve as the backing for the "Paint Box" made with Kaffe fabrics.

Linda is also currently working on this "Flourish" pattern

And YEAH! her Keepsake Quilting Order finally arrived sporting these fabrics:

That's a wrap for this week.

9/19/24 CCLQ at Ruth B's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.

This week quilters met at Ruth B's home. Candy supplied the tasty snacks.  It was just so wonderful to visit with Ruth.  We had some great show-n-tell!

Candy started us off showing a Thanksgiving Turkey for the Boutique.   She shared the pattern with Margaret.

Lynda has her Round Robin blocks all together now to decide on border or no border ... small or large ... single or multiple.  Decisions Decisions what's a Quilter to do.  A few ideas were discussed, we'll have to wait an see what the final result will be.

Linda got a donation quilt back ready for binding.  Margaret has the binding all done and will give to Candy so she can machine sew it on.  A true group effort.

Linda has so many BTS Pins that she had to make a 2nd wall hanging to hold them all.  She's thinking of using chop stix to hang them up.

Linda got this wonderful Kaffe fabric quilt top together. All agreed it is very striking.

Maggie brought her Round Robin quilt and reminded the others that we need to have hanging sleves and labels (on back lower right) ready for drop off on Sept 30th for the show starting Oct 4th.
As well as showing one of the Bat's that will be sold in the show Boutique.

Showed 2 mini quilts finished from Blocks that Ella had passed along.  Fun using decorative stitches. Silent Auction bound if Ella doesn't want them back.

Maggie gave Deedee a zip bag made with fabric that has all flower names.  The 8"x8" pattern was one that Linda shared months back.

Deborah was busy busy busy during the meeting working on the Binding for this original design Bird quilt ... and the "after quilt" on the back.

Cheryl was with us today but her Round Robin was collected for the Sept 30th drop off.

Deedee's Round Robin quilt was also collected for the Show.

Deedee also showed some runners and mini's that will go to the Senior Center Holiday Market Sale.

Ruth was gifted Her Bird quilt that the group made in secret.

It was lovely to be able to have the meeting at Ruth's.  It all worked out so well we plan on having more meeting's so Ruth can participate.

Sew On Ward till next week!
