Welcome to another CCLQ in the Wild. For this adventure, Deborah and her DH ventured to The Bluff on Lake Ontario to visit Ruth S and hubby. We traveled through the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, spent the night in Winchester, Virginia and headed out the next morning through Pennsylvania along the Susquehanna River. We arrived just before sunset at Lake Bluff. Thanks to Joy for encouraging me to share these photos on the blog! I wish I had taken more!!!!
We stayed in the lovely green cottage.
The “sewing cottage” is still there! Notice the gray house next door has been moved closer to the sewing cottage.
Lots of beautiful nature to see…this is a Turkey Tail mushroom.
We walked along the rocky beach and of course found lots of rocks for a rock painting project.
We took a day trip along the Finger Lake area and found an Amish Quilt Shop at Weaver View Farms.
This shop was located in a large barn and in addition to quilts and fabric, they had handmade baskets, woodworking, canned jellies, jams, fresh eggs, cheese, and homemade bread.
The following amazing quilts were displayed at the Amish Quilt Shop.

One afternoon, Ruth, Donna and Deborah created these fat quarter pumpkins and then played Canasta!
Our last morning, Jeff arranged for us to pick apples! 
Many thanks to Ruth and Jeff for an unforgettable visit at Lake Bluff! We loved every minute and learned so much about the history of Lake Bluff and the area!
Ruth and Deborah felt like we toured a “Quilt Show” with such wonderful quilts!
This majestic Weeping Willow tree in front of the house at Miles Wine Cellars. We stopped for a tasting and enjoyed the view of Seneca Lake.
We traveled to Waterloo, NY to see the homes that Jeff’s grandparents and parents lived in and had a lovely lunch at an Italian restaurant. Ruth checked the internet ahead of time and found that there was a quilt shop in Waterloo. We put the address in the GPS and it took us to a Petro Truck Stop. We looked for signage for a quilt shop and couldn’t find anything. We circled around several times and then stopped at the Petro station and asked about the quilt shop. It was inside……

This quilt shop did not have fabric, but they do specialize in making “bunk made” quilts for truck drivers. The quilt is attached to the matching sheet so that it doesn’t fall off the bunk on those cold winter nights!
The next day we visited the Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum.
Inside the museum is a lovely quilt with images of the light house. Many other artifacts about the light house and boating are in this historical house.
This photo is a view from the top of the light house. In the distance, you can see the homes on The Bluff! Yes…that’s where we go to watch the sunset!
