1/5/17: CCLQ at Joanna's

Happy New Year from the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters! Seven quilters met at Joanna's house for our first meeting of 2017.

Here's Joanna's 2017 Calendar for January.
Here's a cell phone photo of Ella's show and tell today.  She made these "Queen Bumblers" for her grandson's friends.

Joanna showed this wonderful modern quilt top.  This quilt lends itself to some massive quilting.
Joanna has been busy...here's another quilt top waiting it's turn on the longarm machine.
Linda was busy trimming blocks. Linda shared that she made a Christmas tree skirt for her niece and is working on a Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt.
Candy was happily knitting a scarf.
Candy shared this police support quilt for Mebane. The patch was sewn on using straight stitch.
Ruth S, Joanna, and Deborah have completed tops for the police support quilt project. Candy shared a tip for sewing on the label...she used a small zig-zag stitch with monofilament thread and fused the label as well.

Joanna composed the label for the back of the quilt: "This is offered as a symbol of our support, our faith in you and our awareness of the danger you live with.  May your courage inspire us to bridge gaps and improve relations. " This will go along with a group photo of the CCL quilters.  Candy volunteered to make this label for the back of the quilt.
Ruth S shared some pillow cases made from fabric she used for The Bluff quilt.
Ruth S finished a lovely baby quilt.
Here's a detail of the rick-rack trim.  How sweet!
The back of this baby quilt is warm flannel.
Ruth B worked on embellishing her landscape quilt.
Wow...Joanna completed another quilt top!
This awesome quilt top is on Joanna's bed .
Here's what's on Joanna's design wall...she's looking at border combinations.

Isn't this 3-D Christmas tree cool?  This is another one of Joanna's projects!

Six quilters had lunch at Bennett Point Grill.  Until next week, here's a quote for the new year...

"Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host again difficulties."  Helen Keller

  1. Joanna,
Thank you for the Quilt Show from your group. Beautiful quilts and a wide range of designs. Joanna, your 3-D tree is definitely 3-D. Please show it again when it's sewn together. Also like Helen Keller's quote.
