1/8/2026 CCLQ @ Cheryl's

First Welcome of 2026 lets see what the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters are up to!

Cheryl hosted with some wonderful snacks after which the Show-n-Tell began.  FYI just a reminder we want to start a "Prompt Challenge" in March so think of a word or 2 that will inspire us to create our own interpretation of that word.  We will put all the words in a bag and draw two.  The challenge is to use one or both words to design a quilt sized between 12" and 36".

Joy shared a finished quilt which she keeping for herself.  These crosses on point (looking like X marks the spot) have a backing that she has had for years and boy howdy does it really compliment the quilt front.  Next she showed the current challenge so I'll only post the back for now.

Ruth is ready to say goodbye to December and has started a new quilt top with a pattern from Linday H. called "Misfit".  At the moment it is square so she is looking for ways to extend it ... stay tuned.

Deedee shared a 5 yard piece of fabric sporting cameras with Cheryl whose DIL is a photographer.  Then she showed us a completed donation quilt sporting the "Rail Fence" blocks.

Maggie showed a patriotic top where she used up fabric stash and made use of a Creative Grids 90 Degree Double-Strip Quilt Ruler using 2.5" width strips.  Link to how the ruler works is here  The pattern I used "American Beauty" by Liz Katsuro I can no longer find on my computer.  Each wof strip set sewn in tube will make 8 units resulting in 2 blocks.  The trick is to make one strip set tube ironing seams to white and 2nd iron to the red/blue.  Then the units will nest.

Candy has made some cute mug rugs to give to Family House for gifts/pizes for the residents.  She also found a ufo baby quilt that Cheryl had the perfect fabric to make a back and possibly binding.  It sure is grand to have helpful friends.

Deborah made some Portrait Faces for her grand children.  It's amazing the fabrics she used to represent each of their interests.

Britt is on the trail finding fabrics for the Wedding Quilt.  As well as finishing up Ruthie's "Monkey Wrench" quilt.   Believe it or not one of her own quilt tops is currently on the longarm.

Gayle shared a story about her "Run Away" truck, thankful for a safe outcome.  Now she is working on the Trail Tote pattern in denim fabric, using back pockets as the outer pockets on the tote.

Cheryl shared a quilt she had been housing for a number of years while her cousin was living in a very humid climate, it is all hand stitched.  Now the quilt is going home to Colorado to be reunited with the Quiltmakers daughter.

Best Photo for Last is Luka sporting his new cape!

Keep smiling and sewing for 2026!

Have you made your UFO/future projects list for 2026!

We are currently working on #3 from our lists.

Hey stay flexible ... shhhsh ... you can always renumber that list.

Just keeping moving forward one project at a time.
