1/23/16 - NT @ Margaret's {Bluff Mystery Revealed} The Virtual Edition

First exclusive
Then CCLQ open
Then NT open

Bluffers still got "first dibs" on the clues.  While others might not agree, the one with the clues overruled.  :P

A number of people got their mystery blocks completed by the end of the retreat:

As the weeks and months passed, many of the "Bluffers" completed their quilt tops, but Deborah was the first:

... And has since quilted it and gifted the quilt to her Mother-in-law:

Congrats, Deborah!  Your stash of batiks worked perfectly for this design.

Here's hoping that Ruth S. will prod Donna and Catherine into sharing how far they've gotten on their quilts, as it will be great to hear from them, too!!


Emails flew around with the snowflakes on Friday:

Linda joked that we all should have converged on Margaret last night (meaning Thursday before the big storm hit) and had ourselves a "snowed-in sew in."

Margaret said that she would miss seeing everyone and suggested that "Maybe we should all send pictures of what we have been working on and Joy/Britt can put together a virtual meeting blog."

Joy replied that a virtual meeting sounded like an excellent idea, given the conditions.

CCLQ members began the reveal on Thursday (since some don't attend NT meetings.)...

Joanna made her quilt in the recommended colors for a QOV Donation:

Ruth B. used a pretty turquoise print and plans to leave hers with only one border:

By the time of the reveal, several of the "stragglers" completed their quilt tops, too:

Joy STILL had a stack of blocks... until just last week:

But that's better than the first time she ran this Mystery!!!  :o))

(Thanks, again, Britt!!  Otherwise, she wouldn't have finished her blocks this time, either!)

We have an of overachiever in our midst...

Ruth S's quilt is not only quilted...

... But she took the time to embellish it, as shown here:

Looking at the photo below, I thought that Candy had ended up making TWO sets of blocks.  Anyone who attended the CCLQ @ The Bluff retreat will be surprised to see this completed quilt top.  (I know that I was!  And I really want to see how the lime green and blue quilt turned out!!)

This is the ACTUAL color combination that she worked on at The Bluff AND the colors in the quilt shown above!! If you look closely, you should be able to see the rooftop on the left and the doorway on the right:

This "meeting" was brought to you virtually (separate, but together in spirit), thanks to Winter Storm Jonas, which dumped a variety of snow, sleet, and freezing rain over the bulk of the East Coast yesterday (and today.)  The very weekend of the Bluff Mystery Reveal!!  :o((

From Britt:  I've started a new quilt.  This one is a cheerful quilt destined for my sis in New Zealand.

This just in from Linda:  I have sent you some pictures of what I'm working on.  I'm making (appropriately) snowball pinwheels with some adorable polka dot fabric.  Probably going to be a baby quilt.  When I'm not working on that, I am also finishing the binding on my daughter's Asian quilt.  I have one more side to go!  When that's done, I'll start the binding on my shot cotton quilt.  My sewing room is coming along, and at least it's functional right now.  It took me a while to get inspired to work on it and get back into sewing, but I'm on a roll now!

This endeavor was started in 2014 with the Bonnie Hunter class for Jamestown Landing string quilt.  Is it too soon to say the end is in sight?  LOL

1/21/16 - CCLQ @ Ruth B's

Welcome to another meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!!  This week we met at Ruth B's house.  We all enjoyed meeting Ruth's daughter, but would you believe that I forgot to take her picture?!?!  Sorry, Karen!!!

After introducing everyone to Karen, we gave Gayle her Birthday Blocks that she requested, said Happy Birthday to Ruth B., whose birthday was yesterday, and sang Happy Birthday to Ruth S., whose birthday was TODAY!!

REMINDER:  The Bluff Challenge blocks are due at Joy's house on the 28th!!!

While the others were transitioning back downstairs, Joy decided to use the floor to lay out the blocks that she made over the weekend (for Dr. Pete's Wedding Quilt.):

Candy has added the borders to her woven table runner, but was having trouble with the directions for connecting them on this reversible runner:

Note:  Please forgive the photographer for missing photos of the beaded bracelets that Jean made. Hopefully, the recipients will wear them next time for a photo op!!  (Sorry, Jean!!)

We missed Ella today (and Linda, as usual.)  Our time together goes by SEW quickly!!  Before we knew it, Dee Dee's "lunch timer" was going off and most of us headed off to HBBQ.  (That's Hillsborough Barbecue, for those of you who aren't familiar with the abbreviation.)
