After introducing everyone to Karen, we gave Gayle her Birthday Blocks that she requested, said Happy Birthday to Ruth B., whose birthday was yesterday, and sang Happy Birthday to Ruth S., whose birthday was TODAY!!
REMINDER: The Bluff Challenge blocks are due at Joy's house on the 28th!!!
Here's a closer look:
And a look at the other side of the group of blocks:
This is a close-up of the block that Ruth S. made:
Deborah made this interesting Butterfly Flower block:
Joanna made a paper-pieced wonder in Gayle's favorite color:
Gayle brought the fabric ornaments that she recently made:
Using "vintage" straight pins to secure the beads:
We weren't allowed to touch the ornaments:
Apparently, they are very fragile:
Joanna brought Candy's Donation Quilt back from quilting it:
LOVE the swirly design:
We made good use of Ruth S's balcony...
Some of us hadn't seen Cheryl K's beautiful bed quilt:
Gayle got busy with her hexies:
Dee Dee added detail to a stamp that she is carving:
Ruth B. worked on her scarf:
Deborah was knitting, too:
Joy worked on her Traveling Scarf:
Deborah made a Baby Quilt:
Jean is making one, too:
She's using the UNC mascot (shown above), along with this pieced panel:
To create a quilt inspired by this Elephant Quilt:
Jean has been having some fun on Spoonflower.com:
She created the fabric shown above and below, using photos of her dog, Willie:
This panel used another special effect to distort the photo:
Ruth S. worked on a quilt binding:
Jean also showed her Dresden on Steroids quilt top:
Then we were back upstairs...
We saw Joanna's Bluff Quilt:

Ruth S. shared the QOV that she recently completed:
Ruth B. brought out her Bluff Quilt:

Dee Dee shared her recently completed Donation Quilt:
Cheryl K. showed off her small version of the Bluff Quilt:

While the others were transitioning back downstairs, Joy decided to use the floor to lay out the blocks that she made over the weekend (for Dr. Pete's Wedding Quilt.):
Some wise one pointed out that the background was all wrong! :P
Candy has added the borders to her woven table runner, but was having trouble with the directions for connecting them on this reversible runner:
Shown front and back (above and below):
Then Candy went back to stitching the binding down on someone's Donation Quilt:
Joy passed around the contents of her bag of goodies from the DOQ Silent Auction Fundraiser:
Note: Please forgive the photographer for missing photos of the beaded bracelets that Jean made. Hopefully, the recipients will wear them next time for a photo op!! (Sorry, Jean!!)
We missed Ella today (and Linda, as usual.) Our time together goes by SEW quickly!! Before we knew it, Dee Dee's "lunch timer" was going off and most of us headed off to HBBQ. (That's Hillsborough Barbecue, for those of you who aren't familiar with the abbreviation.)
Until next time...
Stay warm in the impending Winter Storm!!!
