12/1/16 - CCLQ @ Deborah's

Welcome to this week's meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!!  We ALMOST didn't have a meeting today.  Plans were made to go on a Field Trip to A Thread Runs Through It  Quilt Shop in Phenix, Virginia for their annual SALE.  At the last minute, it was decided that the travelers among us would leave AFTER the today's meeting.

On the way in, I got a glimpse at what Deborah has on her design wall.  It promised to be beautiful:

Our normal chatter was amplified and extended, thanks to a special guest.  Spot the odd quilter out:

Candy brought packs of quilting designs to share with us:

Jean worked on a beading project:

Dee Dee brought a present...

... for Deborah:

HERE is a closer look at the intricate piecing:

Jean got a present, too...

... And decided to be silly when asked to smile:

Dee Dee also brought a gift for...

I don't recall the story, but here's the pin cushion that Jean received:

Here she is with the quilt, in better lighting:

Joy worked a few more rows on her Quaker Yarn Stretcher:

Ruth B. brought a page from the NY Times magazine.  These bags are being sold from HUNDREDS to THOUSANDS of dollars:

Outrageous!!  They don't appear to be all that special:

Who was wearing the amazing bird socks?

The table mat...

... With the quilter who made it:

Which quilter was sporting a holiday manicure?

A special label...

... For a special quilt...

... Made by Gayle, to celebrate a special birthday...

... With blocks made for her, by her quilting peeps:

We talked about Needle Felting and Deborah shared an example:

THIS photo shows a closer look at the end product:

Who is sneaking in while Ruth S. opens her Show and Tell??

Ruth S. was busy making a quilt this summer:

Fabrics from the last CCLQ Shop Hop were transformed:

Linda arrived, just in time to leave for today's Field Trip:

SURPRISE!!!  She's not even "tracked out" this week.

We were all pleased to see Gayle today.  Thanks for joining us (and bringing that lovely quilt!!)  It was fun to see how you arranged the blocks that we made for you.  Nice work!!  Come back, anytime!

Until next time...
Safe travels!!!

Here's a closer look:

Oh, NO!!!  Check out those surprised hands:

Britt bought out her 2016 DOQ Challenge Quilt for Lisa to see "live and in person".  You can see it HERE halfway down the page:

Linda stopped for fast food on the way:

Our hostess and our guest of honor:

Sorry, Helena and Candy, we didn't think to get a group photo until Lisa was getting ready to leave:

Editor's Note:

Sorry for the delay in posting.  I got caught up in a book (or two.)

11/19/16 - NT Nights @ Hboro Library

Welcome to the SPECIAL meeting of the NT Nights Quilt Bee!!!  This time of year, we don't normally schedule to meet.  However, with Thanksgiving falling earlier in the month than normal, members of the group voted to have an extra meeting this month.  We ended the evening with eight members in attendance.

REMINDER:  There will be NO NT Nights MEETING in December!!!  Our next meeting will be scheduled for Tuesday, January 31, 2017.  Hope to see you all next year!!

Take a look at what went on at the November meeting...

Joy brought some Quilting Arts magazines for everyone to have a look at.  Jean was clearing out and is passing these around:

Here's Carol, enjoying a browse:

Margaret worked on squaring up some HSTs for the Star Blocks shown in the foreground of the photo below:

Fabrics and pattern for Leslie's next quilt:

Joy worked on the layout for her next T-Quilt:

Britt's been playing with her "warm and cozy" strings:

HERE is how far she has gotten on the new project:

Margaret completed the quilt top that she began at Britt's Sew Day:

Smile, Margaret:

Not sure HOW a photo of Leslie was missed, but this shot shows one possible fabric alignment:

And a slight variation:

Victoria finished the knitting on her slippers:

Margaret made FOUR blocks from the DOQ Holiday FQ:

Joy showed off the earrings that she bought at Quilt Camp:

Britt is trying to figure out a way to complete this quilt WITHOUT making any more applique blocks:

With the quilt layout set, Joy got to work on her Quaker Yarn Stretcher.  You can find the pattern on Ravelry:

Carol did some stitching on her Grandson's Halloween Quilt:

Kirsten worked on a cowl made with Noro Yarn:

Britt listened intently while preparing MORE applique patches:

Cheryl B. showed off some of her Puff patches:

As well as this beautiful completed quilt top:

Here's a wider view of the quilt:

Oops!!  Cheryl is right side up, but the quilt is upside down:

THIS is a closer look at the Puff patches, but the glare didn't improve our ability to see how they were made:

Until next time...
Happy Holidays!!!
