10/15/16 - NT @ Ella's

Welcome to the October meeting of the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Bee!! This month marked Ella's inaugural hosting. Thank you for having the nine of us, Ella!!  (And for sharing your AMAZING soups with those of us in attendance!)

Carol's Halloween Quilt being bound:

Then she will get back to hand quilting:

Speaking of binding...

Britt is putting the final touches on her DOQ Challenge Quilt:

HERE is a close-up:

Carol also completed a Heart Quilt top out of scraps, 1 of 8:

Cheryl K. made progress on her Scrap Quilt:

Found some MORE scraps for a border:

Suggestions boiled down to more orderly HSTs:

Ruth B. is pleased to be making progress on her current project:

She also reported on her recent trip to NYC.  Highlights:  Neue Gallery to see The Woman in Gold, saw a Tony Award winning play, The Humans, went to the WTC Memorial and also took a walk on The High Line.

Candy has made some Christmas stockings:

A crocheted Lamb Hat for her granddaughter:

AND... A quilt for her niece quilted by Gayle in Quirky Spiral:

Ruth showed off her recent bag project:

Blocks for Twirly In Reverse:

Linda had a TELL - Upon her return to school, she noticed a pupil missing.  Turns out one of her students from last year is battling 2 forms of leukemia.  She felt the need to make him a quilt, but polled last year's students and the Class Quilt will be given to him (early) to aid in his recovery.  4 kids, parents, and teachers will be going to deliver it.  SEW sweet!!!

Gayle has been busy making small projects, including a Superman cape for her grandson:

Along with a small drawstring backpack:

A beach bag:

A purse from Philip Jacobs fabrics:

A casserole carrier:

And... A large beach bag:

That's a LOT of projects!!!

Here's a closer look at the casserole carrier:

We went on a field trip to Ella's "Grand Room":

These quilt tops (above and below) graced the beds:

Joy was VERY EXCITED to be reunited with the "House Divided" bracelet that Jean made for her birthday:

Showed her Pin Cushion Swap (photo found HERE.)

Britt showed the Pin Cushion that she received in the swap (but Joy didn't get a picture for some reason.)

Joy had a TELL - She's on the way to Quilt Camp tomorrow!!

For those of you who weren't there, Cheryl brought this chocolate torte-thing for dessert.  She CLAIMED that it was a failure (due to translation from her recent Italian cooking class... IN ITALY!!)

Those of us who were in attendance beg to differ... because it was DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Until next time...
Enjoy fellowship with other quilters!!!
