2/14/19: CCLQ at Margaret’s

Happy Valentines Day!  Eleven Cherry Creek Lane Quilters met at Margaret’s home.  Excitement was in the air as Ruth S shared a special chocolate candy with everyone and a group of quilters were eagerly awaiting their trip to Pineapple Fabrics after the meeting.

Gayle was busy sewing the binding on this awesome quilt which was a kit from Margaret.  It will hang in Gayle's new house!
Ruth S finished this lovely quilt top made from fabric from Ella's and pattern instructions courtesy of Joanna.

Ruth S had an important tell:  Savannah the Bernina is paid for!!!!

Ruth S is ready for a field trip!  She researched upcoming quilt shows. Take a look and see if you're interested in any of these shows.  Ruth encouraged the group to add to this list.

Ruth B and DeeDee made a trip to Cary for fun. Ruth was excited to share this black and white fabric she found at Cary Quilt Company. She plans to use this fabric to make a quilt for Steve.

DeeDee showed a flower block and reported that she made some more fabric covered art books.   DeeDee is interested in making a Storm at Sea quilt and wants to use a paper pieced pattern for this.

Candy finished gorgeous quilt top using the Swirly Girls pattern.

Margaret made several mug rugs for the upcoming Umstead Trail Marathon. Her son is running in this race and the mug rugs will be door prizes.

Close up of mug rug...cool fabric Margaret!

Margaret is coordinating the "quilt as you go" donation quilt and was eager to sew a few blocks together.  The fabric was donated by Pineapple Fabrics.

Margaret made this quilt top from a Hancock's of Paducah  kit.

Margaret's beautiful Blooming Nine Patch is done!

Jean made a lovely bag out of her embroidered flamingo sample piece. Jean reported that she plans to make a Victorian Christmas Quilt.

Cheryl completed this lovely BQ2 quilt top and back from Ella's fabric.

Here's the back.  Nice work Cheryl.

Joanna's terrific Trip Around the World quilt from Ella's fabric is almost complete.  She quilted it and is sewing the binding!

Joanna gave the group a demo on how to make half square triangles using the Thangles paper.

Lynda reported that she is almost finished quilting the bubbles on her bubble quilt.

Joanna had some wonderful Guatemalan fabric to give away and Lynda was the lucky recipient.
Deborah continues to work on her Blooming Nine Patch. Soon she'll need a bigger design wall!

Deborah shared a photo of a Fat Sack that she made for a gift.

Can't wait until next week to see what the Pineapple Fabric shoppers found.

Until next time,  when it rains....sew something!

2/7/19: CCLQ at Deborah’s

This week the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters met at Deborah’s.  Eleven quilters gathered today to show wonderfully creative projects and of course share our stories.

Everyone settled in for a cozy meeting.  A big thanks to Eddie (Deborah's DH) for helping set up this meeting with chairs and general tidying up!
Jean is making an embroidery piece each month for one of the quilters and today had a surprise for Gayle!

Jean made a triptych using a coastal theme for Gayle's new house.

Gayle absolutely loved it!

Oops...this photo is upside down...so look closely and you'll also see cords with beads to use as bookmarks on a couple of these stunning art fabric covered books.

Cheryl already has her blocks completed with the fabrics from Ella's! Cheryl used the BQ2 pattern.

Deborah has started on her Blooming Nine Patch....you know the old saying..."Slow and steady wins the race." Deborah's really thinking..."What did I get myself into?"

Lynda shared a photo of her bubble quilt on her iPad.  Joanna is taking a look.

Lynda reported that finished the hand embroidery on Britt's butterfly quilt. How did Britt decide where the embroidered designs would go?  She tossed pennies on the quilt to get a random, just right effect.  Stay tuned to see Britt's butterfly quilt in a later blog post.

Here's Lynda's bubble quilt on a table. Can't wait to see this quilt when it's quilted!

Margaret bought this quilt kit with pattern for $4 at the DOQ silent auction.

Voila!  She's already made the quilt top!  Woohoo Margaret! Everyone loved this pattern.

Why is Margaret so happy?  She went to Cary Quilting Company Anniversary Sale and won a door prize!

Margaret could not resist this wonderful whimsical animal fabric.

Margaret found more irresistible fabric! Meow!

Margaret added the draw strings to these bead bags for DOQ.

Ruth finished her Quilt as You Go Blocks for the group donation quilt. She has but Ella's fabric and has it on her design wall.  Ella, you're going to be so pleased when you return and see all these quilts!

Ruth shared a little art work from Donna who visited last week during the Super Bowl.
