4/30/19 - NT Nights @ Passmore Center

Welcome to the "regular" April meeting of the NT Nights Quilt Bee!! There were 7 members present and plenty of quilty things to see.

Here's what you missed, if you weren't in attendance...

Joy brought Karen L's recently quilted quilt, in hopes that she would be at the meeting.  Questions about binding plans were answered and here is the quilt in question:

4/25/19: CCLQ at Candy's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  Eight and a half quilters met at Candy's home.  Candy shared her history of quilting and showed her first quilt.  Enjoy all the wonderful creativity of this awesome group of quilters. 

Candy has an array of beautiful quilts artfully displayed in her home.  This colorful throw on the sofa is one of my favorites. 

This lovely table runner is a work of art!

Here's Candy's first quilt. Candy shared that no one in her family was a quilter. When her children were 10  and 12 years old, the family went to Pennsylvania for a summer vacation. They visited the Amish county and Candy saw some beautiful quilts.  When she came home she took a quilting class at Thimble Pleasures (when TP was in Carrboro.) The class included hand piecing and hand quilting. 

Candy impressed everyone with this unique unicorn quilt.  Candy is making this for her bereavement counselor.  The bereavement center is called the Unicorn Center. The unicorn pattern is by Elizabeth Hartman.  

Candy also shared a pile of sixteen table toppers for the Family House volunteer brunch.  We didn't get a picture of all of them today because a photo was taken at another meeting. 

Ruth S, Jean, Joanna and Deborah made heart blocks for the New Zealand Quilt project. 

Jean was cutting pieces for the border of her silk tie quilt.

Deborah shared this panel of Hungry Alphabet Animals.  She plans to make an alphabet book for her granddaughter's birthday. 

Joanna was busy hemming some pants. 

Ella reported that she is working on a quilt for her hallway.  She will demonstrate how to do one seam binding when bee is at her home. 

DeeDee shared that she and Deborah are working on a secret sewing project and will reveal on the last Thursday in May. 

We enjoyed seeing Joy and especially our junior quilter who loved saying "meow" to Candy's kitty. 

Sew much fun but now it's time to go!

4/18/19: CCLQ at Jean's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week 11 quilters and our junior quilter met at Jean's home.  

Please forgive the blogger if she mislabeled your fabric purchase from Pineapple Fabrics.  Next time, I'll get a photo of you holding the fabric because with so many wonderful pieces of fabrics....it's hard to remember who bought what!

One can't help but find inspiration for a quilt in this beautiful iris garden at Jean's.

The backyard garden was equally gorgeous.

Here's Jean's stunning kitchen quilt for this month. Jean used her collection of Marcia Derse fabrics for this piece.

Take a look at the close up of Jean's quilt.  The vertical rectangles were appliquéd onto the background pieces.

Jean finished this dazzling modern quilt for her friend who is opening a dental practice in Chatham County.

DeeDee is making this delightful tulip quilt for a donation.  It will go to the Sleep in Heavenly Peace Project.  Refer to last week's blog about this charity. Also, the dimensions for a Sleep in Heavenly Peace quilt are 54"x 72".  Several quilters in CCLQ want to make a quilt for this charity. 

DeeDee showed this wonderful art piece last week. 

Joy loves working with tiny scraps, so DeeDee gave this one to Joy! 

Cheryl finished this lovely baby quilt. 

Ruth S made this wonderful quilt and Joanna quilted it.

Ruth S sewed the binding on this donation quilt from the Tuesday group. 

Here's Ruth S's fabric from Pineapple Fabrics' sale.  She will use this in a Blooming Nine Patch for her daughter.

Ella showed a sample of binding that used a method in which one has to sew only once!  Ella will demonstrate this binding method at one of our upcoming meetings.

Joanna found some wonderful Stonehenge fabric at the Pineapple Fabrics sale.

This fabric has a cool design.  I think Jean purchased this at Pineapple.

Candy shared this Kaffe Fassett book. 

Candy brought directions for making a heart block  for the New Zealand Quilt Project.

Gayle is adding the binding to this colorful donation quilt. 

Deborah made two quilted Easter baskets for her grand children.  

Margaret found this beautiful panel on her trip to Delaware. She plans to make a baby quilt for her niece.

Margaret found several quilt shops on her trip and bought this  pattern for a spool wallet. 

Margaret also found this pattern at one of the quilt shops.

Margaret purchased this nice collection of fabrics in Delaware.
