8/8/19: CCLQ at Candy’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week eight quilters met at Candy’s home and welcomed our newest member, Carol.  Carol is a member of Nimble Thimbles and just retired so now she can attend the weekly CCLQ meetings! Enjoy seeing the wonderful quilts shared today and the quilt related purchases from last week's adventure to the Sewing and Quilt Expo. 

Candy found some fun Hologram threads at the Quilt Expo.

Candy also purchased a rayon batik infinity scarf kit at the Expo. 

Candy finished this beautiful unicorn quilt for her bereavement counselor.

Candy made this travel accessory for Carol to welcome her to the group. 

DeeDee finished this wonderful tulip quilt top.  It will be a donation quilt for the bunk bed project.

Emu sighting in Candy's kitchen!  Orange County has recently had an Emu on the loose for over a month.  As of this meeting, the Emu is till wandering around. This wall hanging was a gift from one of Candy's friends from Australia. 

Gayle was traveling today but sent us this photo of three grocery bags made from the Shabby Fabrics tutorial. 

Joy needed help holding this quilt for show and tell.  Joanna was happy to help!

Someone sent Joy this gray Anchor fabric as a gift. 

Joy made this adorable mug rug as a thank you gift to send back to her friend. 

Joy finished the top of this awesome T-shirt quilt.  This will be a  wedding gift for her niece.

Joanna did not bring a show today but reported that she has a new project on her design wall. She reported that she pieced blocks for two quilts while at the beach!

Margaret made this stunning Quilt As You Go Quilt with fabric from Pineapple Fabrics(PF). She used the Migrating Geese pattern from Deb Tucker for the left column of the quilt.

 PF donates bags of fabric scraps to quilt guilds for making donation quilts. Margaret plans to take this quilt and two other quilts to Pineapple Fabrics next week to show them her extraordinary work! Well done Margaret!

Margaret shared this awesome tote bag that she made from a Craftsy kit.

Carol made this whimsical Halloween quilt for her grandkids. 

Carol had enough blocks left over to make a Halloween table runner. 

Ella did not have a show today but reported that she's working on a quilt from fabric in her stash. 

Deborah purchased this cute mermaid block at the Expo. The artist who created this block is P. Carter Carpin of Richmond, VA. Here's a link to Carpin's website on Craftsy. 

Deborah also bought two of these blocks.  You are My Sunshine was her dad's favorite song and bluebirds were her mother's favorite bird. Deborah plans to make pillows for her sisters using this fun fabric.

Deborah also purchased a rayon batik chenille scarf kit at Expo.

A big thanks to Candy who loaned a rotary chenille cutter to Deborah for the chenille scarf project. 

In between taking photos and notes for the blog, Deborah took apart this wonky star block. Who knows, maybe these little stars will become mug rugs or Christmas ornaments.???

8/1/19: CCLQ at the Quilt Expo

This week members of the Cherry Creek Lane quilters traveled to Raleigh for the Original Sewing and Quilt EXPO.  A big thank you to Cheryl for ordering the tickets at the group price.  Thanks also to Ruth B and Cheryl for driving. Apologies for not getting photos of everyone who went on this trip.  Once the two groups arrived, everyone ventured out on their on.  Thanks to Barry and Ella for reserving a table so we could regroup for lunch. Requests were made to submit your favorite quilt photo from the quilt show. Thank you to those folks who submitted a photo. 

Sir Walter Raleigh's statue dons a "quilt like" advertisement for the Sewing and Quilt Expo in front of the Raleigh Convention Center.

Amazing artwork in the lobby of the convention center made of wooden tambourine bases and guitar necks.

DeeDee sent this fabulous frog quilt as one of her favorites.

DeeDee also sent this wonderful landscape art quilt. 

Gayle sent this amazing antique quilt that was wonderfully quilted by a long arm quilter.

Guess who we ran into?  Cheryl B was there and although she didn't quilt any of the antique quilts, she admired them too.  Gayle and Deborah(not pictured) were so happy to see Cheryl.

Deborah sent this photo of an art quilt to Margaret, who couldn't join us. If you're able to look closely, the yellow fabric  has computer code printed upon it.

7/30/19 - NT Nights @ Passmore Center

Welcome to July's main meeting of the Nimble Thimbles Nights Quilt Bee!!  Considering it's the middle of summer, we had a really good turnout tonight.

Margaret arrived early to baste this Donation Quilt:

7/25/19: CCLQ at Cheryl K's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week eleven quilters met at the home of Cheryl K. We were excited to see a beautiful quilt from Ruth S who spends her summers on the banks of Lake Ontario.  We miss you Ruth and look forward to your return in the fall! Those quilters who attended the Sew Saturday at G's Craft and Quilt Retreat reported that the venue was an excellent spot for Sew Saturdays.  A good time was had by all! Enjoy seeing the wonderfully creative quilts this week.

Candy made this stunning Colour Maze quilt using blacks and grays.  Well done Candy!

Here's the pattern for Candy's quilt.

Margaret used her creative talents to make this wonderful quilt using blocks that Jean gave away. 

Ella is taking a short break from quilting due to a repetitive motion injury to her right arm.  Wishing you a quick recovery Ella, so you can return to quilting soon!

Cheryl made this awesome Josephine's Knot quilt top. Cheryl plans to add borders.  This will be a wedding quilt for her friends in Spain.

Gayle reported that she has started new projects.  One quilt is on the design wall and the pieces for another quilt have been cut. 

Lynda worked on her embroidery pieces last Saturday. 

Joy surprised us with an impromtu visit to show us this stunning Pecking Order Quilt. 

Look closely and you can see the spiral quilt design that Joy used on this quilt. 

Ruth S made this wonderful "I Spy" quilt for a donation quilt and sent it to Joanna who quilted it.  

Here's the center of Ruth's quilt...a wonderful poem surrounded by a list of words of pictures in the quilt. Awesome quilting by Joanna!

DeeDee brought an amazing collection of her ICAD index card art work. 

Jean made two elegant cross body bags using cork.

Can you see the texture of the cork? Jean painted the cork with fabric paint.

Jean is working on the binding of this marvelous necktie quilt for Monty...a friend's husband who just retired.

Jean saved the labels from the neckties and used them to cleverly create a giant "M" on the back of the quilt. 

Nancy, Cheryl's neighbor shared this beautiful quilt.   

Deborah finally finished the Mystery Quilt from the  Bluff trip. She worked on sewing the binding today. 

Jean passed around a bag of quilt related items to give away.  Margaret chose this pattern for a frog quilt.
