2/16/2023 CCLQ at Deborah's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!

Deborah has a new Big Board that looks great for ironing fabric yardage

Gayle has a new nail piercing totally un-intentional.  Ouch!

Lynda has been taking advantage of the weather to start working on her garden and has been busy shopping for plants.

Ruth S. is finishing the binding on her Half Yard Challenge

Ruth B. has the backing pieced and ready for the longarm.

Carol continues to work on using up her bountiful supply of scraps.  These log cabin blocks will make a nice rainbow colored quilt.   Next she showed us a Tuesday Group (Nina's) quilt she is binding.  And the most precious jacket and caps for the soon to arrive baby boy grandchild.

Maggie has another baby donation quilt done and another top ready for border and quilting.  After being challenged by Nina at the Tuesday group to use a ribbon to make a name tag ...  challenge accepted bye fussy cutting the ribbon and added some scrap pinks.

Candy is getting ready for Christmas with a small table topper sporting an inspired quilting lines motif.

That's it for this week ....

2/9/23 CCLQ @ Ruth S.

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!

Ruth S. started by introducing us all to her Sister Susan.  So wonderful to see the finished portrait and hear the history behind the making of this so personalized portrait.

Ruth B. had a number of shows first a finished donation baby quilt that has charming little Giraffe, Butterfly, and Bunny critters.  Next up was the Joy  Mystery done at the Bluff from a few years back.  As well as a recent New Years Eve Day Challenge that is ready for a backing that will be pieced from left over fabric pieces.

Carol showed a Tuesday Group block that was AccuCut but missing a corner green ... replacement was found; can you tell which one?  I can't.  Great Job.   Next she showed a scrappy donation quilt where she had to be channeling Joy's pintsize piecing with these tiny half squares and rails.  Lovely original design.

Margaret showed a practice New Years Eve Day Challenge quilt that Stacy quilted and is now bound and ready for donation.  It's an odd/off center layout because all the pieces from the 5 half yards were used but not enough to center the design.  As it is close to Valentines Day this table runner which was pieced last year got sandwiched and quilted ready for use this year.

Linda shared with us one of her Sneeches that used to reside in her Classroom when she taught 1st grade.   This was to show us a Sneeche after last weeks discussion about "Stars upon Thars" of which Linda knows all the words.

Dr. Seuss and The Star-Bellied Sneetches

Lynda shared one of her favorite Kaffe books "Bold Blooms" from which she has made quite a few quilts. Here are a few that have been used by the Grand kids when they visit.   And she showed the recently purchased Cinnamon Stix Fabric Kit from Laundry Basket Quilts (and yes it made it around the room and returned to her).

Candy is passing on some bobbins that don't work on Pfaff machines although that is what was thought.  She is also ready to pass on the New Years Eve Day challenge quilt as a donation.

Deedee's Challenge Reveal.   Back in 2022 Deedee challenged Margaret and Carol at the Tuesday Group to use a half yard of Sesame Street fabric and make a baby donation quilt.  Here are the 3 different but coordinated quilts.

Deborah's Dead Dog Quilt blocks were such a hit with her Sister that she doesn't want them quilted together but rather she is going to frame them under glass.  In other words they will be Preserved Posthumous Puppy Portraits.

Until Next Week!
