10/24/17 - NT Nights @ Hboro Library

Welcome to the October meeting of the Nimble Thimbles Nights Quilt Bee!!  Ultimately, six members were in attendance.  We enjoyed our time together and missed those members who were not able to join us.

Let's start off with a preview of one of our #quiltsforvegas quilts:

Joy was busy with a bag project and actually brought her sewing machine to the meeting:

She stitched up the pockets:

Britt bought the background fabric for her niece's quilt in order to test the layout of the butterflies:

Our newest member, Ann, shared this gorgeous Christmas quilt and asked for help determining how much to cut off of the border:

She did a scrappy backing for this one:

Here she is, working on her long-term applique project:

What on Earth is THIS?!?!

The dog got ahold of Kirsten's friend's quilt:

We think some of the damage is fabric failure:

Other bits are obviously puppy problems:

Britt worked on her own long-term applique project:

Smile!!!  The borders are another step toward a completed project:

Kirsten brought along a knitted shawl project:

Ann and Cheryl B. discuss the Christmas Quilt:

Victoria worked on binding a quilt:

You can see why I added that preview picture up at the top of the post.  I didn't end up with a very good shot at tonight's meeting:

Cheryl B's last piano student didn't show up so she stopped by to do a little work on her Grandmother's Fan project:

Oh, look!!  THREE of us have been to IKEA and have the giant bag to show for it!!  It's GREAT for schlepping quilt projects:

Until next time...
Quilting season is upon us!!!

10/19/17: CCLQ at Joanna's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  Today five quilters met at Joanna's home. Joanna served some delicious gluten free brownies and fruit along with coffee and tea.  Several members were traveling, so our group was small today.  Lot's of fun and good planning for our Quilts for Vegas project.

Joanna finished this stunning Josephine's Knot quilt and it's proudly displayed in her living room.

Look what Joanna has draped over her long arm machine....ready to be quilted!

Ella shared that she finished the binding on the twin quilts and they are in place and ready to keep her grandsons warm!  Stay tuned to find out about some interesting business cards that Ella and Joanna are creating.

Britt got right to work on the second group of blocks for the Quilts for Vegas project.  A few more blocks will be made by Candy and Britt.  Deborah will pick them up on Monday and assemble the second quilt.

Here's a sneak peak at the blocks for "Quilt 1" that were made during Sew Saturday. Britt will assemble these and add a border.

Candy worked on her Dear Jane cross stitch project.

Joanna made this lovely cardinal block using paper piecing.

Cardinal close up

The pattern for the cardinal was in this magazine.
Deborah brought her iPad and showed a relatively new app called Quiltography. Click here to read about this app.  It allows you to create blocks, design quilts, and take photos and turn them into quilts. Deborah also shared photos of the Durham Orange Quilt Guild Challenge quilts from Monday night's meeting.

The group had lunch at Bennett Point Grill in Durham.

Until next week, winter is coming...make a quilt!
