11/16/2023 CCLQ @ Ruth's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.

Ruth hosted our group this week now that she is back in town.  We had just about a full house of quilters.

Ruth started out showing a Round Robin quilt that usually hangs upstairs.  It was done when she first started quilting with a group of friends in Boston.  She made the center block then each border was added by another member.  There were rules for each border such as curves, applique, and pinwheels.  Next she showed a blooming nine patch quilt top that recently got its final border put on.

Candy is ready for both Autumn’s "Turkey Day" and Winter's "Bells".

Maggie showed another baby quilt that features the Sesame Gang of characters.  Next are some fabric covers that can fit holiday size pots of Poinsettias.  And finally two Mug Organizers.  Ruth passed along this little kit and only after viewing the following utube video ( Mug Caddy from Simplicity 2450 pattern ) was Maggie able to make the original and an upsized version.

Deborah has finished with the last T-shirt quilt (Yeah!).  The quilting is straight lines that form a religious cross.

Deedee has a tell about this cute 4-patch baby quilt.  She used glue dot's to baste it.  She's still not 100% sure about using the glue and may give it one more try after washing this one to see how it turns out.   She's got a panel and a pattern to make a baby quilt for a friend who has set the color pallet.  The panel with animals that are typically found in Africa is being used for the new Father To Be since he is from Africa.  The pattern has asymetrical hearts and will provide a lot of movement for the viewer's eye.

Chery showed us a seatbelt cover that is made from a left over block.  She used a 1 inch wide velcro strip instead of the 2 inch that was on the original one she was given.   Next she showed the "Revised" baby quilt that is made from half squares.  All the other colorful fabrics will be put on the border in a keyboard fashion.  We will all wait to see what color she will use for the inner border.

Carol is excited to have the whole family at her house for Thanksgiving.

Linda M.  had a not so good tell about her featherweight machine.  After getting it back and sewing short pieces she when for longer seems and the thread is shredding and breaking.  The repair guy did some fixing but it's back at it breaking the threads.  We hope it can get fixed for good this time.

Linda H.  was inspired to order some precuts from Wish Upon a Quilt given the latest emails about 30% off liquidation sale.

Gayle got a wonderful and most coveted gift from Deedee of two Bird Pillows.  She also showed us the completed orange peel with rick-rack called X's and O's.

That's All for this week ...

Happy Thanksgiving Next week!

11/2/2023 CCLQ at Lynda's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.

This week the quilters met at Lynda's and started the Round Robin Block Swap.

Gayle finished a couple of coasters and a trivet for the Senior Center Craft Fair on Dec 9th.  She also showed her Round Robin Improv Block.  She is asking for any design but oversized to 13" where she will do the final trimming before putting the blocks together.

Cheryl finished her bird wall hanging that will go in her bedroom.  She showed the fabrics for her next project that is going tobe a row quilt with a cute sailboat focus fabric.  Her RR tote bag is perfect for sending home to each members home.

Maggie has a holiday runner pieced as well as the start of a donation baby quilt from scraps.  She made the first RR block and has an assortment of fabrics with roses on them.

Ruth is going patriotic with both her tote bag and fabrics.

Dee Dee uncovered a forgotten hand piecing project in her Omnigrid zippered tote bag.  Her RR 6" blocks will go around this lovely Paris panel.

Carol shared the next quilt show by the Capital Quilters as well as her RR fabrics that she got from her very first visit to Cary Quilting Company.

Ruth made her tote bag especially for the RR the teal and yellow were just waiting to be come a bag.

Linda is using 1930's fabrics to have the group make these lovely flower blocks.

Candy made some large bells for a table runner and was asking advice for how to place them.  Then she had a lot of finished table toppers to pass along for the Senior Center Craft Fair.  Almost all were made while she was residing in the efficiency appartment.   Her RR block is to be the disappearing 4 patch.

Lynda also made a bag especially for the RR.  Britt supplied the heavy duty fabrics from her past love of making bags.  We are all going to be able to make a Tilda block from Lynda's Tilda book and fabrics.

Deborah was not in attendance but DeeDee had her tote and shared the heart block and yummy fabrics.

That's all for this week.   Let the Rounds begin!
