5/20/21 - CCLQ in the Wild @ Pineapple Fabrics

Welcome to another edition of CCLQ in the Wild!!  It's been a while since members have been out and about.  Last week, a number of quilters braved the BIG Warehouse SALE @ Pineapple Fabrics.  As far as I know, there was no meeting (Zoom nor in-person) on the day of the event.

Let's see who was there to fight the crowds...

Dee Dee came across Joy in the line for the restroom:

Appropriate decor for the facilities:

Joy ambled back to see Carol in the checkout line:

Maggie showed up with members of the Unskilled Quilt Guild:

Ruth B. and crew arrived a little while later:

Linda H. visited with Joy in the (super slow) cutting line:

Cheryl K. stopped by for a visit shortly before Joy gave up on EVER getting to the front of the line:

It may have been a madhouse at the SALE, but it was SEW good to be out and about!  The general consensus was that we probably wouldn't return on the 1st day of the next sale event.  I'm wondering who won the Pineapple Award for our group?  All will be revealed at our next meeting.

Until next time...

5/13/21 - CCLQ @ ZoomBEE

Welcome to another meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!!  This week we had hoped to meet outside.  Mother Nature had other ideas.

Group photo...

My apologies to Ella and Lynda Mac.  I completely forgot about taking a group photo until after they had left the meeting.  :o((

Upcoming Events...

A number of us are hoping to go to the Pineapple Sale, in lieu of having a meeting next week. (5/20/21)  If the gas shortage (delivery issues) continue, we will rethink that plan and possibly have a ZoomBEE meeting at the regular time.  Expect an email from Linda.

Show and Tell...

Carol: just home from a trip for a bridal shower. Will get back into sewing next week.

Deborah:  almost done with Mineral Matrix quilt top. Enjoyed going to Plants Delight for Mother’s Day.

DeeDee: making some pillows for the porch.  Bought a new color wheel from CT Publishing. Shared one of the crumb blocks and asked for advice on sashing. Joy said, “lime green!” Maggie suggested looking at BQ patterns to get ideas.

Candy: Started a new dazzling Blooming Nine Patch quilt.  She really likes the Robert Kaufman pattern for Blooming Nine Patch.

Ruth B: planning to make a string quilt with left over ugly fabrics. Can’t seem to get started on this.  Lynda suggested that Ruth needs some new exciting fabric for this. DeeDee said, “Life is too short to sew ugly fabric.”

LInda H:  put together the top of the beautiful  “Purple Haze” quilt and is ready to add borders.

Britt:  has been quilting quilts on the long arm.  Working on the Kisses quilt.

Gayle:  working on the Dresden plate quilt and made it bigger. Having fun making garden art for the garden.

Gayle explained her process like this: Dollar tree bowls and glasses glued together. I spray painted them with sea glass paints. To add texture I added flat glass marbles to the turquoise one.

Joy: used half square triangles to make a red, gray and white quilt. Inspired by a quilt at the National Quilt Gallery. Almost finished with Ruth B’s Lutheran donation quilt.

Lynda: decide to make a  “Road to Ireland” quilt from a Kaffe Fassett book. Shared the colors and fabrics for this quilt project.

Ella: showed a beautiful gray and white quilt from a pattern on Jordan’s Fabric.

Maggie: working on binding today.  Working on a lovely Round Robin quilt from Bernina World of Sewing.  Made a lovely red table topper. Started putting together 40 Quilt As You Go blocks.

Until next time...
BEE sew happy!!!
