As you KNOW, Joy can't wait to share her projects.  She threw this recently completed quilt out on the table upon her arrival:

Britt did some reading to determine how she wants to complete her latest art quilt finish:

New Member, Peg, brought a jacket that she made from Japanese indigo. Fabric was purchase in Japan at the studio of a master on a visit to see her son and DIL:

Two of these buttons are featured on the back of the jacket:

We encouraged Peg to model the jacket... even without the "right" shirt, it's SEW cute:

Here is a shot of the back of the jacket:

Helena worked on finger pressing more 4-Patch blocks:

Kirsten brought along a knitting project:

Our guest, Ruth, shared her heart with us!  The blocks will be for a Donation Quilt for the quilt group at the Senior Center:

Joy worked on trimming up some scraps:

Did you make that bag, Ruth?  Turns out that she did:

Until next time...

6/22/17: CCLQ @ Candy's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week seven quilters met at Candy's home.  Lots of fun conversation and show and tell this week.

Britt and Joy got together on Tuesday and worked on their collage quilts from the Deborah Boschert class. Britt plans to add more embroidery to her stunning tree collage design. Can't wait to see the piece that Joy created.
Who knew mug rugs could also be used as pin cushions or needle savers?
Candy had wonderful tales of her three week vacation to New England, New York and Canada.

Candy shared this photo from the Dale Chihuly exhibit at the  New York Botanical Garden
On the way home from her trip, Candy found these lovely fabrics at Burkholder's Fabric in Pennsylvania.

Britt won a DOQ (Durham Orange Quilters) Oscar at the DOQ meeting on Monday night for her role in herding cats during the NC Quilt Symposium quilt show installation. CCLQ member Joanna had the wonderful idea and made the Oscars for awards for outstanding people who helped make the NC Quilt Symposium a big success! Great idea Joanna!

Britt was also given this beautiful handmade wooden magnetic pin holder for being co-chair for the NCQS quilt show installation committee.

And the winner is....Britt!  She won this quilt kit during the NCQS volunteer drawing at the DOQ meeting on Monday night!

Deborah won this quilt kit during the NCQS volunteer drawing at  the DOQ meeting on Monday night.

DeeDee shared this hand dyed apron from the Fabric Frenzy last Saturday.

DeeDee has already started a project with her creations from the Fabric Frenzy.

Remember last week, DeeDee delivered a QOV quilt to a Veteran? A photo of her delivery of the Quilt of Valor and an article about the Vietnam Vet was in the Burlington Times News. Please click on the link to read this interesting article.

Another winner!  DeeDee won this quilt kit at the drawing for NCQS volunteers.  Dee offered to give the kit away but both Ella and Linda wanted it.   Hmmmm.....

Ella and Linda squared off in a game of Rock Paper Scissors for the quilt kit.

Tie

Ella won!
Ella reached in for some wonderful items to share from last week's road trip to Find  X  Designs.
Here's Barry's Father's Day gift...cool pattern and fabrics.

Ella found this pattern.

Ella plans to use this pattern to make some placemats.

Ella's grandson loves chickens, so he will get the placemat with the chicken.

Complimentary fabrics for the placemat project using "Heartland" by Jennifer Brinley Studioe Fabrics

Joanna is working on this design for a quilt for the Jujitsu Studio and the Emergency Chaplain.  It's a combination of the Brazilian and American flags.

Linda found two fabrics that worked just right for the back of her Sticks and Stones quilt.

The quilters had lunch at Asian Harbor in Mebane, NC.

Until next time, "friends are like fabric....you can never have enough!"

6/20 - CCLQ in the Wild @ Hillsborough PD

Welcome to another edition of CCLQ in the Wild!!  This week, I am excited to tell you that Britt and Joy were spotted at the Hillsborough Police Department.  What on Earth?!?!

Well, the stars (FINALLY) aligned and Joy was ready to deliver her Law Enforcement Appreciation quilt.  This week THE DAY came!!

Honestly, it's been done and ready to deliver for a number of weeks.  (Months?)  It's even been riding around in the car with her for the past several weeks just waiting for the opportunity to make its getaway!

Yesterday, it was complaining so much that Joy picked up the phone and called the Hillsborough Police Department.  No!  She didn't call the emergency number.  She called the station number to find out when the Chief would be available to accept delivery.

The office manager informed her that Chief would be available during the afternoon hours Wednesday - Friday this week.  I'm not sure what came over her, but she then asked about that. Very. Day!!

As it turned out, the Chief was available.  SEW...

Britt, and Joy cleaned up their quilting projects and hopped in their cars (as each had errands afterwards), heading for the Hillsborough Police Station.

Upon their arrival, the office manager went to get the Chief.  Joy explained who they were and how the quilt came to be.  Although, Britt was forced to interpret for her, since she was talking too fast.
(Just a BIT excited!)  Britt explained that they are part of a local quilt group called the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters which meets weekly. She went on to explain that one of the members designed the quilt. They group is presenting quilts to each of seven local law enforcement agencies, serving the areas where members reside.

They then showed the Chief the quilt, but forgot to get a photo of his face upon seeing the quilt or an "official" presentation shot. You know the one?  It's the one with the people shaking hands over the presented object.

Instead, they got a photo of  Britt and Joy with the Chief:

Got a photo with the Chief and the office manager with the maker:

Took a picture of the Chief and the office manager with the quilt:

Britt also got one last shot of Joy with the quilt for the blog:

With that, they left the police station to check out the NEW Used Book Store in town and allow the Chief and the office manager to "duke it out", as she wants the quilt to be hung in her office... Right on the wall that you can see behind the glass.

Good luck, hanging it anywhere else in the station, Chief!!  LOL

Until next time...
Thank you HBPD!!!

6/17 - NT @ Dee Dee's for Dye Frenzy

URGENT!!!  Hostess opportunities available for July, August, AND September.  Please contact Joy, if YOU are able to host.

Welcome to the June meeting of the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Bee!! This month we were at Dee Dee's for our annual Dye Frenzy. It's a fun event where we can all get creative.  And a fair bit messy!

Thank you to Dee Dee for opening her home, driveway, and outdoor studio.  Thanks to Britt, Dee Dee, Gayle, and Jean for sharing the techniques that they enjoy.  Thanks to Britt and Joy for schlepping their tables and risers, so that we had work surfaces on which to experiment.

Set-up began early:

Helena FINALLY joined us (after trying every number in her phone) and more than a few wrong turns:

Cheryl K. was the first to jump in the dye pots:

Watch out for the giant snail in Dee Dee's garden:

Speaking of Joy, she dunked her 2010 Quilt Show shirt in the dye pot for the THIRD time and is THRILLED with the result:

Here are Cheryl K. and Deborah trying out some of the stamping techniques at Jean's table:

Here is Carol working at Britt's "Create-your-own Stamp" table:

Gayle cleaned up between "customers" at her gelli print table:

Helena and Linda took a dip in the dye pots:

Dee Dee created a fun new design apron:

Take a look at the stamping drying rack...

More creations drying:

With the last piece of fabric out of the dye post, we want to say thank you to all who brought treats to share for our feast.  It was fun work that we did, but we were a bunch of HUNGRY quilters!!

After lunch came Show and Tell...

Gayle brought her needle felting project from Symposium:

It was quite a challenge to complete this dragonfly:

Smile, Gayle:

The following was another Symposium class:

Unlike her first piece, made with a chanting tool, this one was made with a stamping technique:

This piece utilized a spiral whisk and a potato masher:

Coloring for adults, using (?) inks:

Deborah shared her quilt for the Independent Animal Rescue Auction made with fabrics purchased at Quilted Expressions:

Joy made a skirt... and had the photo taken while bowling:

Dee Dee plans to slash some stash by making this dress.  The pattern was purchased on a trip to Find X Designs:

As previously mentioned on the blog...

... A local event with a quilting vibe:

Carol recently completed another baby quilt for Gayle to work her magic on:

She brought along a new project in the works:

Not one...

... But TWO sets of blocks:

Jean showed off the Groomer's Quilt:

She also shared photos of her Family House student's quilt:

Britt's current project is the vibrant quilt:

She's also working on these paper-pieced butterflies:

They create QUITE a pile of scraps:

Helena had a TELL - She is in the process of buying and house in Chapel Hill.  She's looking forward to being able to walk to work!

Candy reported in via text.  She went shopping at Burkholder's yesterday.  We'll have to wait to see what she bought.

Until next time...
Enjoy your quilty friends!!!
