4/26/18 CCLQ @ Britt's

Britt welcomed a small group of quilters to her house.

Ella and Britt

Candy, Jean and Ruth

Jean showed her beautiful embroideries and reported on her trip to Burkholders - they are not as great a deal for fabric anymore. She thought Zooks is better - but we can be happy that nearby Pineapple is still a better deal than either PA fabric companies..

Ruth B had a home improvement tell as she's run into potential issues with a bathroom remodel.

Joanna is working on this hourglass project

Ruth S. shared a sweet thank you card the she received from the Durham police department regarding the quilt she made them. We were glad to hear she's feeling better. She also had us laughing with a mix-up involving a texted picture to a funeral home instead of a doctor...she can tell you the details if you missed it!

She also made progress on her applique project - looking very pretty!

Candy is going full speed ahead on her cheerful yellow and white wall hanging project. There will be a bed runner to match.

We had a nice lunch at Vinny's.
Happy quilting!

4/21/18 - The Sewing!!!

Welcome to the sewing portion of the April meeting of the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Bee!!  Thank you to Britt for opening her home for this extended activity.  We were QUITE the productive group of quilters!

Ruth S got right to work cutting a group order of Amish Black:

How many quilters does it take to cut 30 yards of fabric?  One, two, three.  Three!  One to cut.  One to hold the ruler.  One to make sure the fabric doesn't fall on the floor:

Candy is starting a new quilt:

Yellow fabric sundrops:

Linda was busy cutting for a new project:

Candy used her Hex N More ruler.  Ask Cheryl B about her slick trick for keeping rulers and their paper instructions together:

Here is Candy's pattern:

Cheryl B had some trimming to do:

A table full of busy beemates:

Ruth B is sewing HSTs:

Margaret is assembling the rows of a quilt top:

More small stars, Cheryl B???

The rows of Margaret's quilt are coming together:

Britt pulled out a UFO using a similar construction method to what Candy will use to assemble her triangle quilt:

If you sew, so shall you press, Candy:

Hey, look!  Joy's Crumb piecing matches her nails and cutter:

Ta-da!!  Margaret's quilt top is complete:

Britt is working on a set of napkins:

The photo below gives a glimpse of the backing:

Cheryl B wants to learn applique like on her purse:

These bits are the results of Joy's afternoon.  They will be joined to form the base of a(nother) scrap basket:

Until next time...
Share a day of sewing!!!
