7/11/19: CCLQ at Ruth B’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week ten quilters met at Ruth B’s home.  The group didn’t meet last week due to Independence Day so everyone was eager to get together.  A big thank you to Joy for covering the blog for the last few weeks!

Ruth was excited to tell us about how she's been working on reorganizing her sewing room.
Joy was excited to get some nicely organized scraps from Ruth!
Joy made this blue block for the rainbow scrap challenge.
Joy also showed the pink block for the rainbow quilt challenge.

Joy quilted this big quilt for the Carolina Hurricane Project...this is the back of the quilt.
Here's the front of the quilt.

Margaret worked on binding a quilt.

Here's Margaret's lovely quilt.  She used fabric from the shop hop.
Margaret quilted and sewed on the binding for this donation quilt. (didn't get name of maker)

Close up of Margaret's quilting. She used a functional zig-zag stitch.

Joanna had some new blocks that were quite interesting.

Here's the overall pattern for Joanna's blocks.  It's called "Tree House." Can't wait to see this quilt!
Candy recently returned from the beach.  She shared a quilting inspiration...she noticed the design on the dresser at the beach house...and thought it would be a cool quilting design!
Cheryl worked on the binding of her Blooming Nine Patch and shared stories of her travels to Spain.
Cheryl was excited to find a fabric store in Spain and purchased some interesting fabrics.
Deborah shared stories of her travels to Italy and Greece and also the latest edition of Curated Quilts.

Lynda shared stories of the visit from her grandchildren.  She's working on her 4th Sue Spargo block. Lynda's also getting ready to sandwich a quilt together.

Jean is making great progress on her embroidered Christmas quilt.
Jean made this fun embroidery piece for Margaret!

DeeDee shared a collection of her creative cards from the ICAD Index Card A Day Challenge.
Linda reported that she has been organizing her fabric on comic book cards.  She found that she has nine yards of Amish black plus a lot of other fabrics.

The weather is so hot!  Deborah suggested that folks try making a Greek Style Frappe...here's the recipe.  Deborah's not a coffee drinker and said that 2 teaspoons of instant coffee was too strong.  Try it and adjust the recipe for your taste.

Greek-Style Frappe
Ahh....frappe by the sea!

Until next time, happy quilting!
