06/29/2023 CCLQ @ Carols

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the
Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!

This week 9 quilters were in attendance at Carol's house for some telling and some showing while partaking of some goodies.

First Up DeeDee is getting her groove back making a "doggie" quilt for a friend ... but it's got a twist that is more up Nick's alley when we look at the back.

Maggie has the middle of two Quilts of Valor tops that will be turned in to the local group along with all her stash of patriotic fabric.  The QOV group can put the final borders from this stash to make the correct donation size.  All the little 3.5" hour-glass blocks were from DeeDee a few years ago ... adding the large hour-glass blocks just seemed like a no brainer.

The next 3 quilters had no shows but some great tells about their recent trips and out of state visitors.

Joy was a good surprise for the group showing her current monthly quilted mini.  Which side is your favorite?

Candy got her wall art ready to hide a bracket that is over her fireplace.  Some good ideas were flowing but not sure how she will get it done.

Gayle continues to work in the yard and brought a whole bucket full of Irises for group members to take and plant at their homes. (bad blogger ... forgot to get a photo)

Carol had a wonderful Disappearing Nine Patch donation quilt that has this quilter wanting to do one as well (just love those colors).  She also has her version of the Solar Flair inspired top made from charms and corner flips.

That's it for this meeting!

Remember ...

6/8/23: CCLQ at Ruth B’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  Quilters met at the home of Ruth B. We were happy to see Ruth S who was back in town for her grandson’s graduation and granddaughter’s confirmation.

Ruth is starting a new project using Kaffe Fassett fabrics.
Here’s the pattern Ruth will use.

Ruth B had a lovely group of fabrics ready to cut.

Cheryl has a donation quilt and quilt back ready to be quilted.

Cheryl ordered more Charlie Harper fabric which she will use for the backing of the bird quilt.

Cheryl also ordered a collection of solid fabric for the Charlie Harper quilt.

Charlie Harper bird fabric

Cool pattern…can’t remember who showed this.

Deborah is sewing the binding on the Catch the Sun quilt.

Ruth S shared the really big pillow she made for her grandson from a T-shirt and wonderfully pieced border.

DeeDee was able to name the clematis in Ruth’s garden.  It’s a Nelly Moser.

Lynda and Candy look on at Ruth’s project .

Candy reported that she’s sewing in her new sewing space and hopes to have a show next week.

Lynda reported that Britt has finished quilting the Cinnamon Sticks quilt. We’re all looking forward to seeing it.

Until next time happy quilting!

6/22/23 CCLQ @ Candy's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the

Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!

This week only a few quilters were in attendence but Oh how nice it was to see Candy's new home.

Carol showed 3 more completed donation quilts; the colorful scrappy two are from her never ending stash and the lovely blue churn-dash from the Tuesday Group got it's final step (binding) done by Carol.

Linda told us about a recent "visit" she had to her stash closet that has been a bit out of bounds since her Daughter has been using that spare room.  The possibilities that await her to use up that stash are exciting.  Notice the whole wall view of Candy's backyard.  It is so calming to sit and look outside.

Maggie is finishing up a donation top that is using up some left over woodsie charms.  Then showed week 1 of the Grid Girls (FB Group) 8 week Summery Mystery.  The mystery is making use of either a border print or a focus fabric.  Included picture of week 2 blocks that still remain a mystery as to how they will be used.

Candy has the borders done on the Modern Lace quit top.  We convinced her to live with it for a bit to enjoy the accomplishment before turning it in for a donation.

The location of Candy's home now has a plethora of options for lunch. Three of us went over to Nantucket Grill.

Until Next Week Sew On!

6/15/23 CCLQ @ Lynda's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!

The meeting was at Lynda's and we had an outdoor tour of the garden.  Such a variety of native flowers and plants for all the Bees and Birds.

Lynda is on the final phase of the Spice quilt and will use the backing fabric for the binding

Candy has almost finished piecing the Modern Lace quilt and was asking if it should be adjusted to have a top and bottom border.  The group agreed that just the side borders were needed ... so stick to the pattern this time.

Carol has two tops ready for quilting and one all bound and ready for donation. Wow those square in a square blocks sure are tiny.

Ruth is sporting a "Pretty in Pink" new iPhone

Maggie used another fat quarter bundle to repeat a previous baby pattern and a polkadot pinwheel top that needs to get a border.

Back from the Pigeon Forge Mountain Quiltfest Maggie showed off her purchases of fabric, pattern, and rulers. Now ready for the Grid Girls Mystery that is on facebook.

Linda is only missing the cane to emulate the latest BTS enamel pin she has to add to her collection.

Deborah's Catch the Sun quilt is getting the finial stiches on the binding before it is gifted and finds a new home near the beach.

That's it for this week.

Stitch Away and share the creations!
