Interim Editor

Hello, Everyone!!

Announcement:

The CCLQ edition of the Nimble Thimbles blog will be hosted by Deborah during the months of June and July.  Joy will be busy elsewhere on Thursdays for the next 8 weeks.  She will miss the weekly meetings.  :o((

CCLQ members, please be sure to thank Deborah for stepping in.  If she has to miss a meeting hopefully Jean can take pictures and email descriptions for Joy to post to the blog.  That would be a workable solution during these summer months.

Until next time...
Change is inevitable!!!

5/26/16 - CCLQ @ Joy's

Welcome to the final CCLQ meeting for May 2016!!  It's difficult to believe that ANOTHER month has flown by.  This week's meeting was at Joy's house and there were 9 members present.  Coffee and cinnamon muffins were provided by our hostess (to get our motors running on all cylinders.)

Gayle requested a photo of the 2 stained glass pieces...

... In order to turn them into quilts:

Joanna received a gift in the mail:

Cheesy grin, anyone?  Dee Dee made a scissor holder out of on old wooden spool and a pair of scissors from her mother's sewing supplies... STILL in the package:

Thank you, Dee Dee!!!

Gayle worked on the embroidery for Linda's gifted birthday block:

Deborah made TWO Maple Leaf blocks for the Fort McMurray fire victims in Canada...

... And is designing a quilted play mat for her great nephew, ala Gayle's grandson's mat :

Candy was crocheting:

Ella worked on hemming her daughter's pants:

Dee Dee brought TWO Maple Leaf blocks for the Fort McMurray fire victims in Canada:

Jean has begun calling the quilt formerly known as Pairing by a new name.  It has given her vertigo so the new name is Nausea:

She's taking a break from the offending quilt to make a "Willie Bag" for a friend:

Dee Dee is doing some hand stitching on an art piece she created in Quilter's Playgroup a number of years ago:

Ruth B. worked on her Applique project:

HERE is a detail shot of the stitching:

Joanna did a bit of stitching, too:

Her Show and Tell was Candy's quilt, hot off of Joanna's longarm:

This shot shows the quilting:

Candy made a quilted Baby Holder:

Jean is planning on making this to show off some new-to-her quilting techniques:

Here's another shot of the Quilt Truck:

Another look at Dee Dee's rust dyed, hand stamped art piece:

Ruth's weekly Applique Report:

It's coming along:

Here's a shot at the "fly on the wall" during the meeting.  (Totally NOT calling DS1's girlfriend a pest!!)  She enjoyed having our chatter as background noise as she worked:

Done with Linda's name, Gayle moved on to preparing Deborah's block:

Dee Dee's lunch alarm went off and only 4 members took themselves off to Hillsborough BBQ.  They were joined by Britt, but the rest of us had other things to do.  Such is the way it goes!!

But WAIT!!!  Jean needs Candy to give her a quick crochet refresher course:

Yes, those of you who were at the meeting will notice something missing from the meeting recap. I recognize that I left something out. I'll post it AFTER it has been posted on my own blog... in about 2 weeks.  Sorry!!  I've got a blog series going and I'm not ready for the BIG reveal.

Thanks for your understanding!

Until next time...
Can YOU keep a secret???

Britt's Gift Quilt is coming together nicely:

Gayle enlarged her original drawing to the size of the quilt:

Now that her experiment is done, Linda began working on another quilt:

Here are BOTH small AND enlarged versions of Gayle's drawing:

So many design decisions to be made:

While most were winding down, Britt and Candy (in the background) were still sewing:

What a WONDERFUL day!!  Thank you, again, to Candy for arranging this Sew Day!!!

Until next time...
