1/26/17- CCLQ at Ella's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  Winter is the time to quilt and to make things and everyone has been busy! Seven quilters met at Ella's lovely and inspiring home. Remember those placemats Ella was working on last week?  You'll see them already in use in her home.
What could be lovelier than serving a delicious treat on a handmade placemat?
Everyone loved this beautiful and colorful quilt in Ella's kitchen.  We all thought it was new...but Ella said it had been there a while.
Candy reported that she has started working on the back label for the police support quilts.  This is a sample piece.  Our group photo will go at the top and the label will be 4.25x5.5 inches.

Cheryl made this table runner for the  Compass Center auction.

Joanna worked on the binding of her police support quilt.
Joanna had an excellent reveal.....a new iPad which fits nicely in a handmade cover that Joanna made!

Look at this collection of 6.5 inch scraps! Notice the wonderful bird fabric. DeeDee plans to make these into half-square triangles and then a lovely scrappy quilt.  Can't wait to see how this turns out!

Candy worked on a knitting a scarf.
Today's photographer couldn't resist taking photos of all of Ella's wonderful quilts!
Remember those placemats that Ella brought last week?  They're finished and look lovely on her dining room table.

Ella's has a new hobby. Her daughter gave her a Paint Night gift card for her birthday and they both enjoyed a night out with painting.

Here's another delightful quilt at Ella's house...this one is displayed in a  coffee table with a glass top.

Ruth B completed the top of the police support quilt.

Ruth B also had a "show and feel" for her new polar fleece jacket.

Deborah and DeeDee had a fun adventure last week.  They joined a friend who has llamas and alpaca and who also knows about spinning and felting wool.  Deborah made this Nuno felt scarf.
DeeDee made this abstract felted fiber art piece and may make this into a handbag.
Joanna had an awesome surprise!  She's already quilted the block of the month quilt that was shown last week!  Way to go Joanna!!

Here's a close-up of the quilting.
Ella shared a collection of fabric in her studio.

Lots of pondering about what pattern to use for these lovely colors!

Until next week..."Live life like a quilt...be soft when it's important,
                               Be warm when it's cold,
Be proud to show your true colors,
And always scrap together when times are tough...
                               Wish upon a quilt."

Just a quick post about a recent event:

Our roving reporter, Dee Dee, posted this LINK to the Quilty Habit blog.  Jessica's coverage of the Women's March on Washington showed a bajillion women and several QUILTS that were made for the occasion.  Check it out, if you haven't seen it on the web!

1/21/17 - NT Sew Day @ SECU Family House

Welcome to the January 2017 meeting of the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Bee!!  Candy arranged for us to have a Sew Day at the SECU Family House.  Helena and Ruth S. were kind enough to offer to host the event.  Thanks to all three of you and everyone who brought treats to share!!

There were 12 members in attendance.  Joy began bugging everyone for photos as soon as she arrived.

She wanted to have time to sew, too!!

Dee Dee, Carol, and Gayle must have gotten the color memo:

The last order of business was Jean discussing her findings regarding our trip to Quilt Con in Savannah, GA in February:
