7/20/23 CCLQ @ Ruth's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.

This week the group met at Ruth B's.

Carol is working on another colorful scrappy donation top it will be random color blocks ... row one done!

After a trip to Contextures Fabrics in Roxboro she show us her fabric gems. The shop is at: 44 Gordon St, Roxboro, NC,  link

DeeDee offered up 2 fabrics for a proposed group project ... we picked the green dot fabric for a child quilt.  She will cut a piece for each of us. We will use it as the center of a single star block. She will distribute the fabric and block directions and then She will collect the completed Star blocks and assemble the quilt using the rest of the green dot for sashing or border.

Dee Dee also shared a print she recently got.  Does the saying remind us of anyone??? She also gave away 2 books she is finished with.

Cheryl got some great fabrics from her recent camping trip near Abington, VA

Linda is ready to rock-n-roll with her spare room to create a dedicated quilting studio.  Where she can soak up inspiration from her closet stash.

Ruth's work table is stacked with some great Kaffe fabrics that she is currently working on.  She's got a great start on the 20 or 30 blocks that will make up the quilt.

Deborah has a memory T-shirt top all together and plans to use a star printed Stonehinge fabric for the back.  Quilting motif's were discussed and she has a good idea of what she would like to do.

Candy found some cute cake designs for applique of her mixer cover.
A little enlarging will get her moving along.

Maggie showed the current Grid Girl Mystery progress after 6 weeks.
Two to go...

Until Next Week! Sew On Quilters ...

7/13/23: CCLQ at Candy’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters. This week the group met at Candy’s.  After a tour of Candy’s new home and enjoying delicious blueberry coffee cake, the group settled in for show and tell. The group talked about the upcoming Round Robin.  Deborah suggested that folks may want to make a copy of Maggie’s well organized email and the attachment with directions.

DeeDee also brought some fabric and possible block ideas for a warm up project that would happen prior to the Round Robin.  This would involve each member who chooses to participate, to make one block and then the collected blocks would be made into a donation quilt.

DeeDee started the fabric sashing for the fish quilt. She also found a nice blue fabric at Cary Quilting for this project.

DeeDee shared this lovely fabric as a possible choice for our block donation quilt.

This green fabric with colorful circles could also be an option for the group quilt.

DeeDee brought this book with options for blocks for our group quilt.

Block 1

Block 2
The group will talk more about this next week to see who would like to participate.

Ruth brought more of her Kaffe blocks and possible fabrics for sashing.

The blocks were placed on Candy’s design wall and fabrics were auditioned…Candy had a purple fabric that looked like a good option.

Candy showed this wonderful quilt top and possible backing below.  Candy plans to donate this quilt.

Candy found a new mixer cover pattern on Etsy.

Here’s the fabric for the main part of the cover and the pockets will be a different color.

Margaret gave Candy this fabric for possible appliqué on the cover.  Candy will explore more options like maybe some appliquéd cupcake fabric.

Carol created some lovely Christmas in July donation quilts.

Here’s another fun Christmas donation quilt.

Carol created this amazing donation quilt from tiny scraps!  Carol also had enough left over blocks to make a mini quilt with these blocks and the photo of the mini quilt somehow disappeared .

DeeDee shared this photo of Ruby on her new doggy quilt.
Deborah showed the fabric that will be used for sashing and borders for her T-shirt quilt project.

Linda shared news of her daughter’s upcoming move.

Until next time, happy quilting!

7/6/23: CCLQ at Passmore Center

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week Linda was our host at the Passmore Senior Center. Enjoy seeing the quilts and finding out about the latest Round Robin Challenge plans!

Cheryl shared this lovely modern quilt made with Charlie Harper bird prints.  The pattern is Cincinnati from SuzyQuilts.

Here’s another view. Cheryl’s advice for changing the size of a pattern…draw it out first!

DeeDee drafted her own pattern for the fish quilt she’s making for her neighbor.

Here’s the pattern.

DeeDee will cut apart this panel and add the color coordinated fabrics below to make this quilt.

DeeDee plans to possibly add one more solid fabric for the quilt.

Carol shared these adorable tiny half square triangle blocks for her latest scrap happy quilt!

Here’s the layout for Carol’s quilt.

Linda shared that she’s now receiving her own copy of the Connecting Threads catalog.  Sew….no more foisting of fabric from DeeDee!

Ruth B shared a picture of the Kaffe Fassett pattern for her latest quilt.

Ruth is using a predominantly blue color way for this quilt with some pops of color.

Maggie shared this amazing and colorful portion of the latest mystery quilt project she’s working on.

Maggie made two lovely donation quilts.

Cool backing for the donation quilts.

Maggie also shared this wonderful wheelchair donation quilt.

Maggie used flannel backing for the wheelchair quilt.

Maggie brought the quilt she made for her husband to show a unique method for hanging the quilt over a metal door.

The back has a cardboard strip with a large magnet.  This fits into the corner triangles.

Maggie brought this book to share about our upcoming Round Robin challenge. Maggie will email the group with the guidelines and a request to see who wants to join in on this group project.

Gayle has been thinking about sewing but spending more time in the garden.

Deborah has been busy working on t-shirt quilts and hopes to bring something to show soon.

Until next time,  happy quilting!
