7-25-24: CCLQ at CH Library hosted by Linda

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.

It was a wet start for the group but a great bit of discussions before we got started with Show-n-Tell.

Linda started off inviting everyone to have a bit to eat and the cantalope was delish.  No quilting shows for this week.

Maggie shared the DOQG website to register our Block Round Robin challenge for the show in October.  The link is here: https://www.durhamorangequilters.org/entryform2024/

Next she showed her purchases from the weekend road trip to New Jersey.  Next was a small Halloween Bat wall hanging and finally a donation quilt for an adult.

Bats & Boos from Fat Quarter Shop with a little tweaking.

Gayle was next with a wonderful new tote bag.  She is having fun figuring out the best way to make tote's.  Each one she makes will have more features (pockets and zippers Oh My!).  She also worked on some gardening fabric ... you know that black landscape fabric.

Deborah showed the quilted bonus Heart n Lines quilt that Gayle quilted.  The backing fabric is not dots but little hearts.  The fabric line is Love Lilly by April Rosenthal  Life is tough and so are you by Moda.

DeeDee Showed the finished Noah's Arc for a little girl named Callie.
After filling all those animals she made a christmas ornament pyramid.

The panel is:  Noahs Ark Designed by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda  Annies Catalog - Link

Carol has two tops ready. From some batik blocks given to her from DeeDee she made this lap top that some older child is sure to love.  From some left over pieces in Pink and Green she came up with this row quilt top that again is sure to make some child happy.

Candy took a Paddington soft book panel and made a wall hanging.  She got some advice on how to quilt it with serpintine lines in one direction and then decide if it needs to have the direction.

Cheryl has this bright yellow child's donation quilt all done and ready to hand into the guild.

That's all for this week ... stay dry and keep sewing!

7-18-24: CCLQ at DeeDee’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week a small group of quilters met at DeeDee’s.

DeeDee is working on the Noah’s Ark project for a friend’s granddaughter.

Carol finished this beautiful scrap quilt made from tiny nine patches from DeeDee.  DeeDee made the nine patches in 2006 at NCCAT (North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teachers.)

Carol made a set of UNC placements for her daughter’s new home.

DeeDee shared her collection of  lovely ICAD cards: Index Card A Day challenge.  ICAD

DeeDee and Deborah had fun stuffing the little animals.

Deborah finished this throw sized heart quilt top.  Pattern is a bonus pattern from the Heartfelt challenge.

Here’s a special bonus link featuring Kiley Ferons, young quilter who has created a new “My Quilt” app for saving photos of your quilts.  Enjoy!

Until next time, happy quilting!

7-11-24: CCLQ at Cheryl K’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July last week! Enjoy the photos!

Greetings and thank you to Joy for always taking a great group selfie photo!

Gayle made a bundle of placemats with kid themed fabrics for donations to DOQ.  Linda gave Gayle some kid themed fabrics from her stash.  Gayle cleverly cut the placemats and loaded them on her long arm machine and voila…lots of placements were easily quilted. Gayle discovered she had enough left over binding from previous projects for each placemat.

Gayle made this delightful “Doggy Bag” for her sweet pup Danny.  She will use it when they travel to carry Danny’s bowl, food, treats, and toys!

Here’s another bunch of placemats made by Gayle.

Joy happily displaces three placemats made for the June challenge which was “watermelon.” Joy used watermelon red for binding on one mat and  all mats have bits of the watermelon red color.

The color for July is aqua.  This work in progress is part of a left over block from Diane Wold.

Joy displayed a sweet print with butterflies which she may add to the aqua piece above.

Ella has been busy organizing her sewing room.

Linda also reported that she’s working on her sewing space.  She found lots of kid themed fabric to give to  Gayle.

Deborah returned from a beach trip with her family and had a wonderful time.

Here’s the Shibumi with the bunting that the family decorated and added.

Carol helped her daughter and family move last week. Carol has started some new nine patch blocks with squares DeeDee gave her.  She’ll show her project next week.

Cheryl started a new scrappy quilt inspired by Carol’s wonderful scrappy quilts.

DeeDee showed a brochure from a quilt show at the Cameron Museum in Wilmington.  DeeDee is also working on her Noah’s Ark project for a friend’s grandchild and has started cleaning out her cloth closet!

Cheryl gave Joy this butterfly fabric that she  needed for her challenge quilt!

Ruth S sent this beautiful photo of her garden.  She reported this was the best year for the hydrangeas!

Until next time, happy quilting everyone!!
