9/11/25: CCLQ at Britt's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week the group met at Britt's. For some unknown reason the today's group was into comedy improv! The conversation started off with a discussion about leaking toilets.  DeeDee explained once she was away on a trip and returned to a "gastronomical" water bill due to a leaky toilet.

Britt's lovely art quilts adorn her living room walls.

Candy has just moved and is looking forward to setting up her sewing room.

Carol reported that she has cut out some Peter Rabbit blocks and finished the Moses pillow.

Linda shared a joke heard on the preview for a new sitcom.  "A man in the office was having a bad day. One of his coworkers said, "Don't be so self-defecating."

DeeDee finished a couple of blocks from Ruth B for the Passmore Craft Show.

DeeDee also finished this cute Christmas quilt top for the craft show.

Backing for the Christmas quilt.

Deborah finished one quarter of the Carpenter's Wheel quilt.

Lynda shared some lovely fabric from Bull Town Quilt Shop's sidewalk sale.

Britt shared this beautiful rug frame with the beginnings of a rag rug.

Close up

Last joke...you had to bee there....Candy asked Carol, "What kind of bag is that?"   Carol had some fabric in a Zaxby's take out bag that read, 'Fingers and Sauces.'
Carol replied, "It's a Louie."  Candy looked puzzled.  Carol, "It's a Louis Vuitton," and held up her handbag.  The group nearly rolled on the floor.

Until next time, laughter is the best medicine. Happy Quilting!

9/18/2025 CCLQ @ Ella's

Welcome to the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters weekly meeting.  Ella hosted the group of seven where a lot of stories and laughter were had.

Deedee was gifting some stabilizer to Deborah but it seemed she wanted to play tug of war instead.

Next she showed off some crow fabric from Passmore that is perfect for her love of Crows.

Cautionary tale about using the wrong marking chalk/pencil on this lovely baby quilt.  It really only shows up on the darker brown fabric.  It could be thought of as a design of the fabric.

Start of her next project is to use a bunch of 3.5" squares she got from Ruth as she downsized her stash before the move to Virginia.  We Miss YOU Ruthie.  You'll see these blocks again as the project progresses.

Deborah showed us her progress of a Carpenter Star Queen size quilt she is making with wonderful Stonehenge jewel tone fabrics.  This is for her Nephew's upcoming wedding (lucky couple).

Candy came with a full tote and left with an empty tote and a big smile.  She had a rayon fabric kit to make an infinity scarf that Deborah will have to model when it's completed.  And Ella received a fleecy warm and white jacket.

Ella is sitting with the prettiest back drop quilt.  Those geese look like they are headed for the sky.

Linda was sporting a new tote bag she won as a "door prize" from her BTS fan group meeting. The BT21 logo was interesting so google supplied the answer:   BT21's name combines "BT" from the group BTS and "21" from the 21st century, symbolizing the group's desire to represent the present and endure long-term, leaving a lasting mark on time. The characters were created in collaboration with the messaging app's company, LINE Friends, with each BTS member contributing to the design and personality of their respective characters.

Linda shared some new Boho blanket patterns she got and immediately lended the "Window to Paradise" to Candy for a possible solution to her problem finishing the "braid" quilt that isn't working out as the pattern instructed.

Maggie showed Chery's bound finished donation quilt that came out very cute and will be sure to make any small girl a Princes

Next she showed 2 of her donation baby quilts that just need the binding before handing in.

Noah's Arc and animals is ready for the Holiday Market Sales at the Passmore Senior Center scheduled for Nov 22nd.

Carol is finishing up this super sweet Peter Rabit quilt that is for one of her daughter-in-laws bridesmaid who is expecting very soon.  Spoonflower had the Peter Rabit block centers and other fabrics were supplied from Linda's stash of fabric.

Extra bonus are a few pictures of the exhibit at the Muse Gallery in Carboro of Marga de Bruijn (friend of Deborah's). Link to web page about the exhibit that comes down on the 30th.
It was such a pleasure to get a private tour with Marga explaining the design inspirations and history of just about every quilt hanging.  And she even turned over the quilts so we could see the variety of piecing she does on the backs.  I do hope the link still works after the 30th so you can all see close up the all her quilts.

Joy’s beautiful quilt.

Aren’t these lovely?

Cute backing fabric.

Carol also made a pretty Noah’s Ark pillow for the bazaar.

Cheryl has been working on the green fabric challenge.  She may use some scrap fabric.

Deborah used the Tunneling Triangles quilt design from Jacquie Gering’s book.

This is the second quilt made with left over fabric from the Storm at Sea quilt. Deborah plans to modify this in some way.

Until next time, happy creating, making, quilting and sewing!
