1/16/2025 CCLQ @ Deborah's

Welcome!  This week Deborah hosted and we celebrated Gayle's Brithday (that day)  and Ruth S's coming up on Sunday!  After some delishous almond cake with chocolate ganache we did a little show-n-tell.

Cheryl sent us a picture of the current project on her design wall.

Lynda did a grand reveal of her 2024 Round Robin blocks Quilt all finished.  What a great backing making use of the extra fabrics.  She is currently working on another donation using kaffe 6" strip fabrics.

Maggie had two show's the first was a scarf she got as a gift from her sisterin law Cathy who is an excellent knitter.  For her donation quilt the group decided that of the 3 binding options; the lime green would work the best given the baking fabric.

Carol was a little stumped on how to finish off this red/white/blue "Key Hole" top and got inspiration from a Villa Rosa pattern that Deedee had and it sure turned out beautifully. She then embraced a technique to use scraps to make jelly rolls.  So using a thin foundation fabric scraps were stitched and flipped. Can't wait to see what she does with these strips.  The video is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdkjafOEFCM

Candy is working on a tote bag for a gift it's giving her fits but she is still smiling.

Gayle the Bithday Girl is also smiling and dreaming about the two trips she is planning for 2025.

Ruth S. finished piecing a donation top using up some vintage stash.  She also did a baptism banner and is happy to be done.  Word to the wise everyone burlap is not easy to work with.

Linda has two projects being worked on but no progress this week because what she should work on is not inspiring and what she wants to work on would be a guilty pleasure. Hopefully the group advice will help her move along on both.

Deedee has one of the smallest show (maybe only rivaled by Britt's milk duds journal).  It's for her mixed media group where they were given a tiny loom to weave this creation.

Deborah has been cleaning up her studio space and found a cut off art piece that she is now going to make into a table runner or wall hanging.  It will be a gift and the ombreh backing will certainly enchance it both as possible borders and backing.

Ella showed her pinwheel donation that is now quilted and ready for binding.

That's all for this week.

1/9/2025: CCLQ at Ella’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane quilters.  2025 is off to a great start.  This week nine quilters met at Ella’s home.  Ella treated us to wonderful gourmet nut butters with crackers and brownies treats. The weather was extremely cold, so it was wonderful to see a big group of quilters brave the icy temperatures to get together. My apologies if I didn’t get photos of everyone.

Ruth started us off with this lovely donation quilt made using the “Bonnie” pattern and quilted by Sarah Porrecca.  The story behind the “Bonnie” pattern is that Deborah’s sister-in -law won a quilt made like this pattern at an auction. Deborah borrowed it to show to the group.  Bonnie’s auction quilt was made by Cynthia Latta.  Deborah asked Cynthia about the pattern, but she couldn’t recall, so Joanna said, I can draft that pattern and shared the “how to’s” with the group. The group decided to call it the Bonnie pattern.

Ruth recently went through her fabric stash and found this bag that she made in 1978.

Closer view of the pattern.

Closer view of Ruth’s awesome hand quilting!

Candy reminded the group about the Sew Saturday on Jan. 25th at Family House.  She will send out a list to sign up for the pot luck lunch.

Maggie shared this wonderful patriotic quilt.  DOQ has recently asked for quilts for Veterans, so Maggie made this one.

Backing fabric for Maggie’s quilt.

DeeDee completed this sweet donation quilt using a three yard quilt pattern. She’s also working on a design for an art quilt.

Carol plans to make a red, white and blue quilt using 2 inch squares.  She’s been busy taking down Christmas decorations.

Linda shared this photo of the finished red panda quilt. The recipient was so happy to receive this one!

Gayle has been busy busy quilting the tops from last week.  This lovely charm pack quilt was made with charm packs given to Gayle by her friend. The quilt will go to her friend’s neighbor.

Gayle offered this two embroidered blocks and DeeDee quickly volunteered to take them for a possible art quilt project.

Backing and quilting for the charm pack quilt

Gayle made this beautiful quilt for a friend.

Gayle used a lovely feather motif for quilting this one.

Cheryl started cutting fabric for the quilt which will be using fall colors. Cheryl recently traveled to DC to see the Impressionist art show.

Ella shared that she is working on a Potato Chip  quilt using 6/5x12/5 blocks.

Deborah found a couple of panel fabrics and decided to make some car quilts for the the grandkids.  She made this world quilt for her her grandson for Christmas.

Deborah made this USA quilt for her granddaughter for Christmas.

Maggie and DeeDee reported that Hillsborough has a new quilt shop!  Bull town Fabrics is the name of this shop.  Click on the link for details.

Until next week, stay warm under your favorite quilt and happy quilting!

01/02/2025 CCLQ @ Lynda's

Happy New Year to the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.

2025 ... Can you believe it?  Let's see how 2024 finished up.

Candy has both quilts done for the new twin grand babies.

Maggie has the 2nd top done with the same Allegiance pattern.  Color placement of fabrics makes the zig zag stand out.

Ruth made up a cute little reading book pillow from some scraps and and will give it with a couple of books to a child at the bluff.

Gayle has been charming and scrapping up quilt tops that are just too cute.

Ella is pin wheeling her way through some lovely pink stash.

Britt has a big tell about Brynn and Frances getting engaged over the holidays.

Dee Dee has a new project on the cutting table with these lovely blue and yellow (+ brown stip was floating on the floor elsewhere). The Binding continues on Harper's sail boat quilt.

Lynda continues to use up her Kaffe scraps for a giant 9-patch of 9-patches quilt.  And what a backing fabric she has.

Happy Quilting New Year!

Let's see what new quilts 2025 will bring.
