DeeDee has been busy de-cluttering her sewing room and provided 51 quilt books for the taking! She found that she had over 100 quilt books! Way to go DeeDee!!
Ruth S worked on the binding of this fun scrappy donation quilt.
Ruth S made two lovely placemats for DOQ. The placemats will go to the Meals on Wheels Programs of Durham and Orange County.
Gayle has been very busy. She’s working on the Starry Night Quilt as seen below. She’s also creating a fiber and paint piece for a friend’s church. The church will display art work for each of the Stations of the Cross.
Ruth B has been busy with home repairs. She also discussed time management. Lots of good ideas were shared.

Deborah reported she’s working on de-cluttering her sewing room and also started this bird quilt with left over fabric from a quilt project years ago. This is the work in progress on the design wall.
Deborah also made a placemat for DOQ from a sample block.

Lynda reported that she quilted the Tilda placemat at Britt’s and is adding the binding.
Ella joined the Tuesday group and brought them a large bag of fabric.
Linda has been busy with appointments and working on her sewing room.

Lynda had a shopping trip with Britt to Cary Quilting and got this postcard pattern for a Cake Day table runner. And wipped up this colorful celebration runner that will be getting a Llama fabric on the back.
Deborah has got the commemorative Brodie doggie image ready for quilting so she can surprise her Sister.
Ruth shared some of her Birthday gifts. A Gee's Bend jigsaw puzzel, a wonderful quilted picture frame from Candy (which will ge and a custom memory book that her Daughter put together.
Cheryl is starting on a new baby quilt, hopes to get the Round Robin block done quickly so she can concentrate on a soon Cancun visit.
Ruthie is sitting pretty soaking in all the groups inspiration.
Candy has too modern for her quilt totally finished and is donating it to the DOQG. It's sure to make some teenager happy.
Gayle is thrilled on her find of some Bird fabric that matches exactly two pillows that Deedee had given her. She is flitting like a bird between her Painting Room and Quilting Room. What more could an artist want.
Carol continues to whip up such colorful donation tops ... this one has way too many Eye Spy opportunities bound to keep some toddler busy.
The Ninja Turtles is getting it's binding that keeps up with the toxic green of the sashing fabric.
Deedee is finishing up this donation that will be given with the name of a friend who passed that loved these fabrics.
The group discussed having a Birthday Lunch after the last Thursday meeting for each month. This would be to Celebrate all the Quilters who had birthdays that Month. The Hostest of that meeting will make suggestions as to nearby restaurants.
Another discussion was about participating in the DOQG collection of placemats to be donated to the Meals on Wheels organization. Studies show people eat better when the meal has a nice presentation.
Some info found on the web about placemats:
There is no real rule on what size they have to be. You can make them 12 by 16 inches in size, 11 by 17 inches or 12 by 18 inches.
What size to the placemats need to be? There is no particular size requirements We suggest about 12" x 15", give or take an inch in either direction.
What kind of fabrics should I use? We prefer quality cotton prints in both masculine and feminine designs as clients include both men and women.
What type of batting should be used? Actually, you can use a piece of flannel, or skip the batting altogether. The Meals on Wheels folks indicate that it's better if the placemats are very flat and not bulky, so a glass set on the edge of the placemat is not so likely to tip over.

Ruth B reported that she made a bag for a friend.
Cheryl is back from her travels and reported that she had a good time. She visited Cumberland Island in Georgia and the group had an interesting talk about Carol Ruckdeschel also known as the Turtle Lady who lives on the island. Here are a couple of links about Carol and Wild Woman of Cumberland Island . I’m sure there are some photos in the one article that may inspire a quilt design!
Ruth S is excited about her upcoming birthday party! Her family is coming in town today.
Ella brought a nice piece of flannel for a design wall to give away. Ruth volunteered to take it to the Tuesday Quilt Group.
Linda has been busy working on her quilting studio. She brought several items to share. The first was a zipper bag kit for Maggie.
Secondly, she brought a recipe for potato chip cookies for Candy. Candy offered to make these cookies the next time we meet at her home.
Gayle received the third surprise… a large bag of fabric markers. Thank you Linda!
Carol showed this fun scrappy quilt made of Marvel comic characters. Carol also returned a lovely donation quilt to Candy for binding.

Candy purchased two new quilt patterns.
DeeDee’s been sewing up a storm or maybe solar flare? DeeDee created this dramatic donation quilt with left over batik triangles.
DeeDee also stitched up this nice wheelchair quilt using more left over batik triangles.

One of Gayle’s goals for this year is to paint. Here are four wonderful paintings completed so far.
Gayle models the painting smock she found at nearby Roses. Our grandmas and mothers wore these and called them house coats.
Gayle also shared her “Chef Gayle” jacket that she received as a birthday gift a couple of years ago.
