12/18/14 CCLQ at Cheryl K.' s House

We had a small group at Cheryl K.' s house today.  Only 7 of us were together for this week's meeting.  Work, health, and travel kept the rest of the bunch away.

This is what we did:

First, we had coffee/tea/water and cookies.  Cheryl is a fabulous baker.   YUM!!

Next, we did Show & Tell...

Candy was inspired by Helena at the NT meeting and decided to make a couple of pillow cases.  She used the "sausage" method (as described for Quilts of Valor "presentation" cases.)  It's fast, easy, and makes a lovely pillow case with nicely finished seams.

Here's Candy telling about the pillow case that she made...

And this is a close-up shot.
Deborah brought these ornaments:

Everyone got one to hang on the tree or at the window.

Ella decided to wear hers (and a friend's) as earrings!

Cheryl suggested she try them against the red shirt instead of the white vest.

Either way, the birthday girl was looking marvelous on her special day!!!  :o))

Ruth B. was wearing her beautiful batik jacket, so I thought I would try to get a better picture of it in Cheryl's lovely sun room:

The richness of color is true in this photo...

But, it certainly is difficult to get Ruth to smile for the camera!
Deborah is finishing an ornament for her grandson's 1st Christmas:

Ruth S. brought her newly pieced mini-quilt (made from a kit purchased in Houston) to work on the embroidery:

We all got a physiology lesson today thanks to Candy's heart murmur:

Here's Ruth B. listening to her own heart...

And here she is listening to Candy's heart murmur.
NOTE:  Please keep Candy in your thoughts and prayers, as she will be scheduling open heart surgery in the coming weeks (to correct that murmur.)

We hope there's something quilty in YOUR gift bag!!!

And then...

Enjoy your Holidays!

See you in 3 weeks for our next meeting.  We will be at Dee Dee's on the 8th.  All CCLQs should bring their calendars, as we will be working on the schedule for the first three months of 2015.

Have a Happy New Year!!!

Until then...
Happy Quilting!!!
