9/3/15 - CCLQ @ Jean's House

Jean hosted the weekly Cherry Creek Lane Quilter's meeting today.  Nine of us gathered to chat about what we've been working on and share some Show and Tell...

In no particular order...

Joy showed the dye mess that she found in her laundry room this morning:

Fortunately, most of it was contained within the bag.  Oops! She forgot it after the Dye Frenzy!
(Why, yes... that WAS several months ago!!)

Jean passed around THIS old sewing advertisement:

Gayle is back to work on preparing applique pieces:

Dee Dee is crocheting a cozy cowl:

HERE is a close-up of the pattern:

LOOK at the lovely, thick purple yarn:

Candy is looking cheerful as she gets out her sewing box:

Dee Dee picked up these patterns on her latest trip:

Deborah is excited about Ella's new pumpkin pattern:

We were all in awe of Joanna's ability to get down on the floor with Willie AND get back up again!!

What IS this ruffled mess that Jean has on the table???  I suppose we'll find out later!

Take a look at Deborah's BIG reveal:

Her daughter's 30th Birthday Quilt looks just as good from the BACK:

Thanks to Deborah, technology comes to the CCLQ meeting:

Candy is showing Rick the spooky surprise that came in the mail:

Finishing the binding?  Applying a hanging sleeve?  I can't recall.  Sorry, Joanna!

Ella told us about (purposely) locking herself in her sewing room after her grandsons went home.

(They had stayed with her for a week and she needed some quiet sewing time!!!)

THIS is the little quilt she made from a charm pack that had been hanging around her sewing room for WAY too long:

Oh!!  Jean is applying ruffles to a hand-me-down dog coat that she will be re-gifting:

Ella put together this lovely Van Gogh quilt for her sister using a cut up panel:

Can you see that big lump near the top of that tree in the center of the photo below?

That lump was the "tree guy" who was busy cutting down trees in Jean's front yard during the meeting!  Several other guys loaded the truck to haul all the branches away:

Candy is working on the binding of a Donation Quilt:

Ruth B. showed us that she decided to use her hand dyes (from the NT Dye Frenzy) as a background for some applique featuring Jean's recently gifted hand dyed purple fabric:

Here's the quilt that Joanna was holding...

And THIS is a close-up of the beautiful variegated thread that she used in the borders:

Remember that piece of mail that Candy was showing Rick???

WELL...

"ENJOY!" was written on the inside:

It was signed "Nonnie"...

AND...

The contents???

Was this crisp $100 bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Candy doesn't KNOW anyone named Nonnie (and this is the 2nd time a member of our group has received such an envelope in the MAIL!!)  It's VERY mysterious!!!!!!!  (I even got goosebumps!)

Deborah is back to quilting her grandmother's Star Quilt:

Ella put a few more stitches in the Donation Quilt that she has been working on:

Here is Ruth B., hard at work on her hand applique project:

Nope!!  I still can't tell what Joanna was doing:

It must not be too difficult of a pattern, if Dee Dee can do crochet while talking with us:

Here's a reminder of the pattern that Gayle is making (taken from Britt's "Rescue" Quilt):

Gayle borrowed some chemical dyes from Jean.  First, we saw the blue piece:

Then, the blue/red piece, made from Egyptian cotton:

Followed by the red piece.  The fabric came from a member of DOQ:

Gayle had a lot of fun with her dying experiment, but Jean's been doing some experimenting, too!

RUFFLES!!!  Shown below...
In cotton, in rayon loosely, and in rayon tightly.

Oh! Would you just LOOK at Ella and Willie posing for a picture.  TOO cute!!

While the computer was hooked up to the TV, Jean showed what may be her next quilt:

Dee Dee's timer went off and we ALL went to lunch!!  (That doesn't happen often.)

Until next time...
Eat heartily!!!

And might we suggest:

It's AMAZING!!!

Angelina's Kitchen can fill you up before you go shopping at...

French Connections near downtown Pittsboro, North Carolina:

They have interesting metal lawn ornaments:

Along with...

And FABRIC!!!!!!

Five of us stopped because Joy needed something to go with her French Quilt:

She shopped "by committee" and ended up with a cheery yellow for the border and that bit of black, which actually incorporates ALL of the colors in her quilt, for the binding:

Thank you to Gayle, Jean, Joanna, and Ruth!!!  Your suggestions were appreciated.
