7/14/16: CCLQ @Jean's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters. After a lot of socializing and snacking, the group eventually gathered for show and tell.

Jean made a special, healthy Blueberry Buckle which was almost gone before I had a chance to photograph it! Check out the recipe here: http://healthyslowcooking.com/2016/07/05/vegan-blueberry-buckle-no-oil-added/.  Rick also made a delicious homemade bread for us!

Special guest today was Ruth B.'s grandson, Brennan who enjoyed spending time with Rick and his model train collection.

Brennan also enjoyed playing with Willie who also loves having the quilters visit!

Deborah finished her blue blocks for the Orlando Heart Quilt.
Candy recently shopped at the Peaches and Cream outlet store, but couldn't find any dresses for her granddaughter.  On her way out, she happened to spot this cotton fabric..only 2.59 a yard!
Ella showed a lovely bag that she made from a pattern on Missouri Star Quilt Company.
DeeDee showed a work in progress.  It's a travel mat for a little friend.  She plans to add a pouch for the cars and make it so it can be rolled up for easy transportation.

Ruth worked on her landscape quilt by embellishing with embroidery.
Willie loved giving kisses to Joanna!  Joanna had a wonderful tell about a blue and green quilt that she is making for a friend.  Her husband loved it so much, that she plans to give keep it for him!
Jean had an interesting "tell."   Years ago, one of her quilts was in an auction in Hilton Head, SC.  She recently received a real estate magazine with an add for a home in Hilton Head.  Her quilt is pictured over the fireplace in the photograph of this home.

Joanna is collecting the blocks for the Orlando Heart Quilt.  As of today, we have all the blocks needed for quilt 1.  We think we have most of the blocks for quilt 2 or at least folks have volunteered to make a given color.  Be on the look out for an email with more details.  Jean volunteered to put the blocks together and provide the borders and backing.  Joanna volunteered to quilt these quilts.

Ella suggested that we make a quilt for the families of the police officers in Dallas.  Several folks volunteered to help with this.

Here are the blocks for the first Orlando Heart Quilt.
This awesome quilt was on Jean's design wall.
Jean tried this saddle chair at Symposium and ordered one.  We all tried it out and it's great for maintaining good posture while sewing and machine quilting! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BGR9KM4?ref%5F=oh%5Faui%5Fdetailpage%5Fo09%5Fs00&redirect=true&psc=1&pldnSite=1
Seven quilters ventured out to have lunch at Moon Asian only a few miles from Jean's house. The food was excellent!  https://www.facebook.com/officalMoonAsianBistro

Until next time, here's the quote for the week:  "A day patched with quilting seldom unravels."
