12/7/17: CCLQ at Ruth S

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters. This week’s meeting was at Ruth S’s home.  Nine members were present.  Candy passed around the calendar for January through March of 2018 to book meeting places.  Most dates have been filled for January and February.  We had a Pineapple Show and Tell, along with sharing our recent projects.

Joy made this Quilted Scrap Basket:

Another in gray... made of scraps to be used to hold MORE scraps:

Placemats made for a gift:

The beginning of yet another Scrap Basket:

Joy practiced a new-to-her quilting pattern:

NOTE:  Joy based her baskets off THIS TUTORIAL, but prefers making the quilt top BEFORE sandwiching the layers.

She is also working on Yarn Bowl baskets for her knitting friends using Christina Cameli's Little Quilted Bucket pattern, mug rugs, and the Bonnie Hunter Mystery called On Ringo Lake.  It's not too late for YOU to join in the fun!!

Cheryl completed not 1...

But 3 Trail Totes for gifts:

She also made a Table Runner for Marianna from blocks leftover from the making of the recent wedding quilt:

Here is another shot of the 3 Trail Totes made by Cheryl K:

Cheryl went a little crazy at Pineapple Fabrics:

She bought a Deb Tucker book, in addition to the fabrics above:

Cheryl has already put that book to work for her with the making of a sample block for a bed quilt:

Candy purchased fabrics for a teepee/play hut for Lilly's Christmas gift, a diamond ruler and pattern.  She worked on her cross stitch.

Britt made napkins...

... And placemats:

Here is a photo of the folded napkins, along with the coasters that Britt made using the same technique:

She also make this adorable Project Bag using Jeni Baker's Drawstring Bag Tutorial:

Britt also did some damage at Pineapple Fabrics:

She's already used some of the fabrics so she feels good about it:

Deborah looks happy with her Pineapple purchases:

Kid prints for a recent announcement that she shared today:

Ruth B's Pineapple extravaganza included a backing for Twirling in Reverse:

She also found some fun fabrics in the Selvage Bin at Pineapple:

Ruth S. shared this wonderful Tree Quilt:

Look at this FUN backing fabric:

Ruth S. also had a good time at Pineapple Fabrics:

Dee Dee is working on Christmas gifts of a Wonder Woman towel set and luggage tags.  While at Pineapple, she purchased fabric for a new robe.

TIP:  Use Ultra Clean Washable Markers for marking quilting designs on your projects.  TEST colors on a sample BEFORE applying to your quilt.  DO NOT press with iron until washing the marks away!!!

Ella had a TELL:  She bought a Hunter Star book for Barry and fabric to make a black and white quilt.

If you were at this meeting, don't be surprised if things are a bit out of order as to how you recall the event of the day.  A substitute blog writer was called in to help.  Sorry for the delay.

Until next time...
Quilt a fruit salad, shop the Pineapple Sale!!!
