CCLQ @ Ruth B's 3/8/18

This bad blogger is still catching up with older weekly CCLQ meetings - this one was our first meeting at Ruth B's new house. Hooray for being mostly moved in AND having living room furniture. It was fun getting to see her new place, but I was so excited to be looking and chatting I didn't get many house pictures.

Here we are settled down in the living room, working away on projects.

Cheryl K. showed off her terrific hunter's star quilt. Second attempt the quilting went better - and looks great!
Ruth S. was binding a donation quilt

And is contemplating this pattern for her blue bed quilt project

But this 100s block is also a possibility
Deborah is working on her applique quilt as time allows.

The fibonacci quilt Joanna designed is quilted and looking cool!
Jean was cutting up silks -she was recently gifted more silks than she could possibly use. She plans to share them with the group. Thank you, Jean!  She also told us how to better manage those annoying robo calls...check out Nomorerobo.com

Gayle's quilt complete with prairie points is done and since she still had fabric left over she created...

this little cutie! I think she now has officially conquered that set of scraps/blocks.

Ruth B showed the fabrics she gathered at the Mid-Atlantic quilt show -these will be part of the bed quilt she's currently working on.

Britt showed a doll quilt she made. This will be donated to Amy Jandrisevits at A Doll Like Me

CCLQ @ Ruth S's

CCLQ was at Ruth S's house -thanks for hosting and making us delicious food! Since I wrote and LOST a complete blog post - this version will be short and sweet. But there are still lots of goodies to feast your eyes on as some of our members went to the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival.

Ruth S. started us off with info about the Bluff retreat in Sept. She would like some advance meal planning from those who might join in the fun.

Ruth had a plan to make a fish quilt...
Until she opened the pattern and saw this!  Um, NO THANKS!
 Panel and fabric purchases

Deedee made some purchases as well. She will report back about how well the pouncer works

Cheryl told us about being inspired to make a blackbird quilt
Candy is playing with this pattern and aiming to practice her quilting.
She also shared copies of a HST tutorial similar to the demo Gayle gave us.
Joanna showed this pretty quilt
Britt brought the unplanned purchases she made at the quilt show

Jean compared 100 weight Superior and Wonderfil - Superior is cheaper per inch.

She also shared her Marathon thread chart - a brand she likes.

And her beautiful projects!

Deborah showed the first panel of the baby quilt she's working on. So cute! She also shared a bag she was gifted.

Gayle showed a quilt she's working on - prairie points are a first for her.

Ruth had an announcement...furniture will be delivered!!!  Just in time for her to host CCLQ. :)

The gang then tried out a new place for lunch and enjoyed yummy Italian food.

2/27 - NT Nights @ K's Closet

Welcome to the February meeting of the NT Nights Quilt Bee!!  You MAY be asking yourself, "Hey!  Don't they meet at the Hillsborough Library?!"  You would be correct, under normal circumstances.  However, there is a new committee at the library.  The committee is booking the large meeting room for various events and that's resulting in our displacement.

We COULD have met in the "large" study room, but large is an overstatement with regard to the room's size.  Cue Karen V's bright idea to ask Sharyn at K's Closet about the availability of her upstairs classroom!!

As it turns out, Sharyn was happy to host our quilt group and invited her entire Facebook group to come by to quilt.  She even stopped by to check on us.  I'm pleased to report that 9 members were present for tonight's meeting.

The photographer charged her phone to have plenty of power for taking pictures.  Unfortunately, she left her phone at home!!  :o((

Thank you to our stand-in photographer, Carol!!

Joy brought her sewing machine and sewed some scraps:

Margaret brought the blocks made from the fabric Dee Dee gave her at Carol's house earlier in the month:

Joy showed off her Mid-Atlantic purchases:

Here is a view of the room, as seen from the door:

Carol made this quilt top from a MSQC tutorial...

... And this one from the "formula" that Dee Dee shared at the February Nimble Thimbles meeting:

Ann purchased this pattern at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Fest:

Victoria brought her seam ripper and put it to work:

Here is our hostess, Sharyn, during her brief visit:

Kirsten showed off her newly completed cowl:

Smile everyone!  There's PLENTY of room to work here:

Patti has already begun work on the pattern she bought last week:

Cheryl spent the evening trimming blocks:

We had a wonderful evening at K's Closet!!  Thank you for sharing your spacious classroom, Sharyn!!  Your space was PERFECT for us and we look forward to meeting here again in March.

Until next time...
Enjoy a community of quilters!!!
