2/21/19: CCLQ at Joanna's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week ten quilters met at Joanna's home.  Lots of wonderful show and tell and quilting advice.  As you read through the blog, look for some fun links to Sue Spargo's website, a recipe for homemade starch,  and a tutorial from Man Sewing on how to make a cover for your sewing machine.

What's on the longarm quilting machine today?

Joanna asked advice on what color to use for quilting this lovely floral quilt.

Lynda shows the winning color!

Ruth S was busy sewing binging on a donation quilt.
Ruth shared her finds from Pineapple Fabrics.
Ruth plans to use these happy fabrics for a baby quilt for her niece.
More lovely fabrics
Ruth wanted to start a yellow quilt and when searching for yellow fabric, found these blocks from a UFO and made a lovely  quilt top!  This one will be for a cottage at The Bluff.

Gayle sews binding on a quilt for her new house.

Margaret sews binding on a quilt for the DOQ pop up sale.

Joanna works on pulling paper from the Thangles half square triangles.

Cheryl proudly displays the donation BQ2 quilt from Ella's fabric.  Joanna quilted this quilt.

The back
Cheryl completed this lovely gray and white quilt for her son and daughter-in-law.

Here are border fabrics and backing fabric for Cheryl's quilt.

Cheryl's son wants some red in the quilt....maybe a narrow border??
Lynda had fun at Pineapple Fabrics and found these wonderful pieces.
Lynda has made two Sue Spargo quilts and is staring a third quilt since she has three daughters. This one is called Bird Dance.
Lynda made this quilt, also a Sue Spargo design and it's called Earth and Twig.

Close up of the work on these appliqué quilts...using wool felt and cotton, and lots of wonderful embroidery and embellishment.

Photo of Deborah's design wall as her Blooming Nine Patch continues to grow...Deborah's almost out of space.

Deborah also made a canvas cover for DH's router machine.  Deborah used the sewing machine cover tutorial from Rob Appell on Man Sewing as a guide.  If you want to make a cover for your machine, check out this tutorial

Margaret started another "quilt as you go" using  cute kid fabric.

Ruth B enjoyed going to Pineapple Fabrics and found the perfect fabric for the back of the peach and green quilt she's working on.

Candy finished quilting her Bluff mystery quilt.
Take a look at the awesome quilting on Candy's quilt!

Margaret ( I think) shared this pattern for a possibility for our donation quilts.

The group had lunch at guess where?  Bennett Point Grill in Durham.

Until next time, happy quilting!
