4/18/24: CCLQ at Gayle’s

 Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week the group met at Gayle’s home. We had a wonderful show and tell today and a surprise guest! Linda H was unable to attend but sent some great photos of her terrific organizational work on her fabric stash! Thanks Linda!

Linda folded lots of fabric on comic book boards to help with neatly fitting on the shelves. 

Linda also used boxes for storage of projects. 

Ruth S was excited to share her lovely finished baby quilt for her niece.

Ruth also created this adorable Pat The Bunny pillow complete with a quilted pocket for the book and the sweet bunny. 

DeeDee shared this photo from one of her friends who is traveling abroad. Why not use a beautiful quilt for your horse. 

DeeDee is currently sewing the binding on this donation quilt.  She reported that she has finished binding four quilts!  Way to go DeeDee! 

Maggie attended the DOQ meeting on Monday night and the Pizza Ladies presented and also sold fabric.  Maggie purchased this “low volume” collection. 

Maggie won a door prize at DOQ! 

Maggie is making a baby quilt for a nephew who attended NC State.  She found this cool pattern for the baby quilt. 

Gayle has had lots going on outside.  She replaced her back deck with a concrete patio and plans to plant some summer bulbs. She will have a flower garden instead of a veggie garden this year. 

Gayle finished her Round Robin quilt!  It will be a donation quilt.

Ruth B made a lovely placemat.  Ruth enjoyed a visit from her son last weekend. 

Ella was happy to have Debbie visit and also attend bee! Debbie reported that she recently moved and is in the process of setting up her new sewing space.   

Debbie shared a photo a wonderful race car quilt she made for her grandson.

Carol showed this awesome Temperature Quilt made for her grandson who will be one year old soon.

Deborah shared the quilt kit for Hearts at Home quilt.

4/11/24: CCLQ at Ruth S

 Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week the quilters met at the home of Ruth S. The group enjoyed the beautiful show of quilts and fabric and a lively discussion about how to manage our fabric collections, how to remember how to make a microwave bowl cozy and how we all seem to be distracted these days. DeeDee purchased this lovely upholstery fabric from Hancocks of Paducah. She plans to make new pillow covers for her porch. DeeDee reported she has finished her Round Robin quilt!

Cheryl has also finished her Round Robin quilt and likes it. She has completed the cutting  on the California  quilt. 

Carol made this beautiful half-square triangle quilt using an off set sashing pattern from Missouri Star Quilters.

Carol made this wonderful scrap quilt from left over blocks from a DOQ sewing day. Carol is working on the binding of her Round Robin quilt which was quilted by Gayle and the backing was from Ruth S. 

Gayle has been painting her Starry Night quilt.  She had her back deck removed and now has a new concrete patio! 

Ruth S is making this lovely baby quilt for her niece.

Ruth B has been making some placemats and working on her Round Robin quilt. 

Linda made pillows for friends.  Each of the pillow had a different back from fabric from Spoonflower. 

Linda shared a photo of the pillows, but somehow the blogger lost the photo. 

Deborah saw this lovely quilt kit on Shabby Fabrics and impulsively added it to her fabric collection.

Tips about making a microwave bowl cozy: (This blogger takes no responsibility for these tips.)

    *Always watch a “how to”  Video on YouTube before making one.

    *Use all cotton batting.  If you’re not sure if you have all cotton, test your batting in the microwave.  If it sparkles…TURN the Microwave OFF and you know not to use that batting. 

    * Purchase Wrap and Zap and keep in a marked bag so you know it’s 100% cotton. 

Tips about organizing fabric stash:

    * organize by color

    *organize by yardage 

    *store fat quarters in shoe boxes 

    * fold fabric on comic book boards

    * use label maker to label yardage

    * store in dresser drawers

4/4/2024 CCLQ at Ruth's

 Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.

This week the members met at Ruth B's home.  A smallish group of quilters but some wonderful conversation and show-n-tell.

Carol Started us off showing this numbers/baseball boys donation quilt that is sure to have youngster saying Take me out to the ball game Pleaseeeeee!

Maggie finished a practice dresden plate to hand into the Meals on Wheels program.  Having fun with the new Janome M8 doing both free motion and decorative stitches.

Ruth's design wall has her RR Swap Blocks and we all had fun rearranging them.  Ruth can now make one more blue block and proceed on to the sashing and border.   Which she did so well with the Kaffe fabrics on her purple quilt top.  Looks a little more blue in the photo but that sashing is purple.

Lynda is starting to get her mojo back for quilting and is finishing up some projects in her studio.

Ruth S. shared a donation quilt that she is hand binding for the Tuesday group.  The Scrappy 3.5" rail fence was kitted from fabric strips donated to the Tuesday group.

Deedee shared a postcard about a quilt display going on in Cary.  Then she wow'ed us with the finished Potatoe chip batik quilt.  That is being gifted to a friend for her camper.  It has fabric choices that are so calming and natural it's bound to the loved.  And it is all from stash fabric that has got tobe a good 6 yards off the shelves.  Yah!

3/28/24: CCLQ at Ruth’s

 Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.

This week the members met at Ruth S's home.  Appolgies this blogger failed to be timely writing this and has forgotten much of the comments that should accompany these pics.  But here goes ...

Linda started by sharing her and Ella's road trip to a Thread Runs Thru It that has been sold and is moving locations.  Batik's were on sale along with notions.  And 1930's prints are always a draw for Linda.

Deedee is going to do some garment sewing with this pattern she got on a recent trip to Mulbury Silk Fabrics in Carboro.

Ruth B. is happy to join and let her creative spirit bubble up.

Cheryl finished a Baby Quilt to be gifted to a friends daughter.

Lynda Mac is keeping busy hoping to get back to spring planting soon.

Carol had a great Easter with the Grands and celebrated the 1st Birthday with a temperature quilt that amazed the family.  She is planning on a trip to the next 1st Birthday and the 2nd temerature quilt.  Wonderful that each child will have a representation of their first year's unique temperature recorded in fabric color.

Ella had a grand time on the road trip with Linda to A Thread Runs Thru It.  She fell in love with this pattern Reflections of Autum reath and bought ALL the fabric.  They are just sooooo lovely.  And she also got Leymone Trails pattern and the fabrics for it as well.

Gayle has her group Block Swap quilt completed and is getting the garden back into shape.  

Ruth S. our host made a set of placemats for her Daughter each one is more unique then the last.  All inspired from the Meals on Wheels placemat project the DOQG is doing.
