Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week the group met at Ella’s home.  Ella provided yummy snacks and a table full of fabric and other quilt related items!  Thank you Ella for hosting and the wonderful fabric give away!

Thank you Joy for always taking a wonderful group photo!!

Here’s the table full of beautiful fabrics, patterns, and bags.  After the fabric was gone, Ella pointed out she also was giving away a teapot and a lovely glass basket.

Deborah visited Mount Airy, NC and found a great sale on this fabric bundle at the local quilt shop.

Deborah also shared this amazing brochure of the Barn Quilt Trails of Alleghany County, NC.

Joy attended the DOQ meeting on Monday night and was gifted this book written by Karen Eckmeier, the speaker.

Linda reported her quilt space is ready and she’s looking forward to what comes next. Joy finished binding a quilt project.

Candy showed the Diamonds in the Deep pattern and a sample of the blocks for this quilt.

Maggie attended the DOQ meeting and won this book by Karen Eckmeier as a door prize.

Ella was so happy to have bee at her place.

8/15/2024 CCLQ @ Gayle's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.

Gayle hosted with some goodies and some wonderful fabric give-away. Deedee joined in the fun with some of her purged fabric.

Deedee bought another Moses (aka Noah) panel for Linda.

Candy has Paddington wall hanging all done.  The next time we see him will be at her home on Paddington Place.  Candy is on a roll making Turkey mini quilts that she plans to give on her travels this season.

Linda is happy to have her declutter/organization of her sewing room done.

Gayle was gifted a mini-quilt / pillow cover from Joy.  She is currently working on blocks for a new quilt after having made another bag and tote.  The large tote features her hand dyed and jelly printed fabric.  Her really big show was a PJ set she has made from knit fabric.  This is a new adventure for Gayle given that garment making comes with it's own set of techniques.

Joy has a good variety of oranges for this months Rainbow Color.

Maggie made a mini quilt for the Quilt Show Silent Auction.

Carol is keeing the Noah theme going with this adorable baby top.  She also showed off a donation quilt she is binding for the Tuesday group.  It is a new pattern using charms for the quilters ... no telling who will make the next one.

Deedee showed us her latest purchase of some baby themed neutral Numbers and Animals fabrics.  Followed by a wheelchair donation top made in the Potatoe Chip pattern.

Photo's compliments of Deedee

8/8/24: CCLQ at Maggie’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  Five courageous quilters with raincoats, boots, and umbrellas ventured to Maggie’s house on Thursday during Tropical Storm Debby!

Joy always takes the best group photos!

Carol recently visited Pennsylvania and found some spectacular fabric panels.

Carol plans to make Christmas quilts for family members using these lovely panels.

Carol found some wonderful complementary fabrics as well.

Carol plans to make a wedding quilt for her niece using the Carpenter Star pattern and these fabrics.

Carol also finished this adorable child’s donation quilt.

Close up of the cute teddy bears.

Maggie has been busy making mug covers for sewing or drawing/writing tools. These will be sold at the upcoming DOQ Quilt Show boutique.

Maggie created a lovely collection of wine caddies for the boutique.

Remember when Linda H gave Maggie a kit for making a zipper bag with quilt themed license plates?  Maggie finished these two zipper bags and plans to make more.

Instructions for the easy zipper bag.

This kit had a sweet little car for a zipper pull.

Maggie just received the kit for the door banner quilt for October!

Deborah wore her special t-shirt for today.

Joy made this lovely pillow cover using the Rainbow Scrap Challenge for last month.

Joy also finished this awesome graduation T-shirt quilt for a friend’s son.

Backing and wonderful quilting on the T-shirt quilt.

Ella reported that she’s working on her sewing pace and making progress.

Ruth S sent this photo a couple of weeks ago for our blog. The caption was, “If you don’t see a quilt, you can paint one. Ruth painted this floor cloth with a lovely quilt design.

“Lake Bluff, our own pot of gold!” Ruth sent this photo on 8/8/24 while we were having the tropical storm!  Maggie replied, “send it our way please!”

The group talked about an upcoming challenge quilt project.  Maggie suggested the theme, “sewing.”  This could be any aspect of sewing…sewing tools, people sewing, sewing related quilt patterns, e.g, spool block.  We will discuss this in a later meeting. Ideas and suggestions are welcome.  Suggested size was up to 20”x36”.  Tentative time frame…January 2025 and reveal in January 2026.  This would allow a group display in the next DOQ show.

Until next time, happy quilting!
