8/1/2024 CCLQ hosted by Candy H.

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.

This week the quilters meet at Candy's.  With a few words of wisdom from the goodies napkins ....

Deborah started us off with the completed stars and stripe quilt that maybe claimed by her grandaughter.

Linda is too busy watching the Olympics but was able to see her donated Orange and Blue quilt as it was shown after quilting on the Singing Stitches instagram posting.

Maggie showed a Christmas runner and a Halloween wall hanging.

Cheryl has her new napkins finished from the fabric she got on a recent trip to Abbington Va.  She even had enough left over to make two placemats that used up all the fabric.  Great to use it up vs adding to stash.  She also showed the finished quilt that Barry had pieced and Ella is donating to the Guild.

Another of Barry's quilt tops was quilted and donated was the Nine patch blocks in Autum colors.

Ella has another row done off her design wall for the Beautiful Radiance pattern by Marlous Designs .

Candy showed us her Thanksgiving decoration that she is planning to make another for the Quilt Show Boutique.  Then she took us to the quilting room to see the current blocks for Diamonds in the Deep that is on the design wall.  We also spotted the Paddington wall hanging that is now quilted and ready for binding.

That's it for this weeks meeting held on Lammas Day!

Here are some Fun August facts <-- link to Almanac.com

“After Lammas Day, corn ripens as much by night as by day.”

  • August 1, traditionally known as Lammas Day, was an old festival to mark the annual wheat and corn harvest. It was a sort of Thanksgiving (harvest time) in Britain. Lammas also marked the mid-point between the summer solstice and autumn equinox. Learn more about Lammas Day.
