2/13/25: CCLQ at Carol’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week the group met at Carol’s and enjoyed wonderful treats and lovely show and tell.

DeeDee shared a couple of blocks from a baby quilt she has started.  The pattern is called, “Mile a Minute.”

Cheryl showed this beautiful donation quilt.

Cheryl recently visited Murrell’s Inlet, SC and found a great quilt shop.  Cheryl found some beautiful fabric!

Ruth is making a lovely “Bonnie” quilt and brought a strip of  this project to share.

Linda is making some beach themed quilts for friends. She is using some laser cut appliqués purchased years ago from Ye Old Forest Quilt Shop in Winston Salem.

Great job on sewing these appliqués Linda!

Looking forward to seeing the next beach themed quilts.

Carol deconstructed her foundation scrap strips and created a stunning new quilt design! She took apart the first quilt made with strips, then cut the strips into 6 inch blocks and starched it.

Carol made this adorable baby quilt featuring chicken fabric in the center.

Carol also created this fun baby quilt featuring Angry Birds fabric in the middle.

Maggie shared this beautiful donation quilt.

Maggie brought this book to share.

Here’s another awesome donation quilt from Maggie. Notice the charm squares in the border that Lynda gave away a couple of weeks ago.

This will be the backing.

Carol is sewing binding on this cool donation quilt.

Candy showed her scrappy blocks from our Sew Day at Family House. She gave the blocks to Carol.

One of Candy’s friends gave her a bunch of upholstery fabrics.  Candy brought them to share with the group.

Gayle shared this spectacular black and white quilt which will go to a friend in her Fellowship group.

Candy shared a photo of the carpet from a hotel.  The design might inspire a quilt pattern or quilting design.

Gayle shared her inspiration for the black and white quilt. The center square is 4.5 in, strips are 4.5x2.5in, corner squares are 2.5 in. Gayle also shared directions for making corner triangle blocks and setting triangles…see below.

Deborah shared a photo of a sewing bird. DeeDee and Deborah visited Ruth B to make suggestions for sewing adaptations. They plan another visit soon and will see if this will help with holding fabric. Here’s an interesting history of the Sewing Bird .

The group ended with our motivational discussion of what we plan to work on during the next week. DeeDee suggested we do this a while back and it has been helpful for many of us! Thank you DeeDee!

Until next time, happy quilting!!!
