12/10/15 - CCLQ @ Candy's House

This week's Cherry Creek Lane Quilters meeting was held at Candy's festive house.  11 members were in attendance.  Only Linda was not able to be with us!  (Make sure you ask Candy about the delicious peach scones that she made for today's snack!)  We missed you, Working Girl... Smile, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  Retirement is on its way!!  :o))

Warning:  Today's edition is filled with funny faces.  Apparently, the photographer was having an off day.  Sorry, ladies!!!  No time to edit ALL of the photos.  Maybe this will make you appreciate the good days just a wee bit more after today.  :P

Deborah worked on binding a gift for her grandson:

Find the Quilted Suitcase Tutorial on Mommybydaycrafterbynight.com to make one of your own!

As she worked on binding off her Tubularity Cowl...

... Joy shared the Moroccan Lentil Soup recipe that her boss gave her this week.  YUM!!  (He left out the spinach, lemon juice, and cilantro because he said that he was too lazy.)

Moroccan Lentil Soup

Note:  The red shawl that Joy was wearing was Alibi by Threebagsfulled.  It can be found HERE on Ravelry.

Ella worked on a bit of applique:

This time, the beginnings of an iris:

Jean stitched down some of the "sashing" on her newest Kitchen Quilt (which is made of thrifted silk ties):

Candy asked for a design decision on her Spotty Pinwheel quilt:

Joanna listened intently, as she got out her needle to begin sewing:

Deborah added a pocket (not included in the pattern) and may add a luggage tag stating "Going to Grandma's":

Gayle prepared hexies for sewing:

Rudolph made his annual appearance at Quilt Group.  Oops!  His nose got cut out of the picture. Sorry, Jean!

Cheryl K. knit on her scarf today, but hid it from the camera:

Dee Dee drew squares in an old phone book.  (Something tells me that she is planning to do some string piecing!):

Here's another shot of Candy's Spotty Pinwheel Quilt:

Ruth B. stitched on her applique project:

Ruth S. did some embroidery work on one of her Bluff blocks:

Dee Dee has been busy making holiday gifts, with applique...

... And without:

Adorable, either way, Dee Dee!!!

Jean asked about how we thought she should quilt this one:

Jean had another quilt to share.  It was a hard story for her to tell, as the close friend that she made it for has since passed away. Flamingo Santa Quilt (close-up):

Jean even hand dyed the fabric and made her own chenille:

Joanna worked on binding the pockets for her "Yarn" Jacket:

Jean received this with her latest Missouri Star Quilt Company order and wondered if any of us had used it in the process of making a quilt.  Please leave a comment, if YOU have any ideas:

Here is the BACK of Deborah's CCLQ Mystery Quilt:

Oh!  Just LOOK at the dog that Ruth S. applied to her CCLQ Mystery Quilt.  (Cheryl K. peeked, but promised NOT to tell!)

Ruth S. also applied a cat (or two) and had some fun with TONS of embroidery floss (not shown):

Here's the BACK...

... And the FRONT of Simon's Quilt that Gayle quilted for Ruth S:

Candy has had this quilt completed for quite some time...

... But just applied the label today (as the baby was born this week):

Ruth S. will soon bring the windows of the Sewing Cottage to life:

This is a close-up of one of Ruth B's flower blocks:

She wondered if it was OK to keep the pink flower in the mix:

Cheryl K. found some more fabric in her stash to make a table runner.  While not many people thought the yellow would work, I think it looks perfect:

This runner will make for a good winter decoration (with it's snowflake background fabric and rich red feature print):

Couldn't resist another close-up of Flamingo Santa:

This quirky quilt was appropriate for commemorating the "flamingo wars" that Jean and her friend used to have:

Disclaimer:  The order of photos may NOT represent what those present remember!  Some photos were taken while everyone was getting settled and others were taken as we did Show and Tell.

EVERYONE went to lunch at La Cocina in Mebane.  It was a BIG crowd, but they have accommodations of large parties.  We all enjoyed ourselves.

Until next time...

Happy Quilting!!!
