7/12/18: CCLQ at Jean’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!  This week nine quilters met at Jean’s home.  Lots of beautiful show and tell this week...hope you enjoy seeing our work and finding out cool tips about sewing and quilting. Some days the computer works like a charm and it only takes a short while to post photos and add captions....but not today!  It took lots of question and answer online to get my old computer to cooperate! Maybe I took too many photos!  There's always a way to solve a technical problem. I'm glad the internet helped me out this time.   I wouldn't want our readers to miss out!!!
This lovely summer quilt adorns Jean's kitchen wall.

Wonderful three dimensional details

Incredible piecing and appliqué for the crane
Rick made a guest appearance with a show and tell about a basketball T-shirt.

It seems this shirt was missing the name of a new neighbor, who happens to be a basketball player.

Jean came to the rescue with her wonderful embroidery skills! You had to be there to get all the details on this one.

Ruth shared her progress with the Churn Dash quilt.

Here's a photo of how all the beautiful colors will look on the bed.

Ella was happy to share this lovely art quilt complete with a very neat binding.
Ella shared this wonderful log cabin quilt.
Ella has been busy!  She also shared this adorable baby quilt.  She used the Jacquie Gering method to quilt this one.

Close up of Ella's fine quilting

The back view really shows off this nice work.

Cheryl visited New York and found this Map of Manhattan fabric at the Gotham Quilt Shop.  I wonder if they have any Batman fabric????
Here's Cheryl's fabric for the Blooming Nine Patch project.
DeeDee was busy cutting out kitties!
Here's three little kitties.

DeeDee also finished this wonderful top for the Veterans Hospice Quilt.

Margaret added borders to the marvelous Mardi Gras quilt.

Now Gayle is the happy owner of the Mardi Gras Quilt top!

Margaret shared this photo of the beginning of her Blooming Nine Patch.

DeeDee also is making two little girl quilts using this sweet flower block.

Gayle has almost finished the T-shirt quilt for Steve!  She's working on the binding. Steve helped pick out colors and the quilting design.
Deborah is happy that the Mr. Roger's Puppets and Trolley bag are finished just in time for her grandson's birthday.

Jean has made lots of cross body bag kits for Family House.  Jean volunteers at Family House and will work one to one to teach guests how to make a bag.
Here's Jean's latest embroidery project...a machine embroidered Shashiko sampler which will be a bag.
The bag will look like this.

Joy has almost completed this lovely commission quilt made from neck ties.
Joy used two tone binding for this quilt, black for the front and navy for the back.  Here's a link for how to make two tone binding.  Be careful and maybe do a test binding to make sure the color you want works out.

More binding tips:  How to make a mitered faced binding.  Deborah used this method on her modern log cabin.

Willie loves helping Jean host bee!

We were all so glad to see Candy and hear about her travels.  She found his nifty needle holder in Norway.  Notice how the needles fan out when you twist the container.

Here's a close up if you want to order one.

Remember...next Thursday is the Original Sewing and Quilt Expo in Raleigh!

Until then, happy quilting!
