1/4/2023: CCLQ at Lynda’s

Happy New Year!  Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week folks met at Lynda’s home.  DeeDee shared some information about a textile artist from Raleigh, Caitlin Cary.  Caitlin has an art gallery in Raleigh called The Pocket Gallery  Here’s her Website .

Candy had a fun time at the beach with family. She worked on the Round Robin block.  Candy received a virtual photo frame and now has a new project of uploading tons of photos.

Linda received a new big ironing board for Christmas. See photo below.

DeeDee worked on sewing the binding on this lovely baby quilt. She found a bag of half square triangles and square batiks and is playing around with various patterns. She found the star burst pattern below for one idea.
DeeDee set some New Year goals:  she plans to learn six new quilting techniques and use 100 yards of fabric in her stash.

Quilt pattern idea for half square triangles

DeeDee’s 100 yard challenge from last year. DeeDee says once you make a quilt, it pretty easy to calculate how many yards were used.

DeeDee showed a copy of the pattern used for the baby quilt.

Ruth B reported that she hasn’t been sewing much due to the holidays but is enjoying the Round Robin.   She’s getting a new roof on her house.

Ruth S is working on the binding of a king sized quilt at home.  She enjoyed making the Christmas postcards, but got a lot of fusible residue on her iron.  Various suggestions were given to remove the residue, e.g, ironing over a dryer sheet or getting a tube of cream that will help clean irons.

Lynda has been working on putting the Tilda ladies quilt together which includes thirty five 12 inch blocks on point. Plans are in the works for another quilt using Tilda fabrics and Lynda has ordered a layer cake from Missouri Star Quilters for this project.  She searched her fabric stash and has enough Kaffe fabric to make a king size quilt.

Deborah has started Karen Brown’s De-Clutter challenge to try to get her sewing space more organized. She plans to make quilts this year focusing on hearts, stars, and log cabins.

Until next time, happy quilting!
