4/2/15 - CCLQ @ Candy's {and Eli Whitney's Quilting Bee}

Today, 8 members gathered at Candy's and 3 members attended the 84th annual Eli Whitney Quilting Party. Sarah P. could tell you ALL about it, but I forget the details.

The blog editor was late to the meeting, but managed to take the following (mental) notes and snaps some pictures of projects and/or Show and Tell:

Dee Dee worked on finishing the binding on a quilt for a friend:

Here's Jean (back from vacation!), looking at Joy's new shawlette and knitting on her Circle Vest:

Linda is adding the binding to her floral Plus quilt:

Joanna was stitching on her cross stitch masterpiece:

Ella had to leave early today, so she was just socializing:

Cheryl K. auditioned fabric combinations for an Asian-inspired quilt (Sorry!  I missed the first quilt, but I believe it was a Donation Quilt.  Either way, I feel certain that we'll see it again.):

And another quilt (this one for a nautical baby):

Back to the Asian inspired quilt (after Candy searched her stash for the "right" shade of blue.)

Here's Ella trying on Joy's bartered shawl for size:

Candy bordered this Donation Quilt and hoped for quilting ideas:

The following photo shows the inspiration for her first commission quilt:

Sample blocks and, of course, a design question:

Linda completed her quilt from Jenny Joan at Missouri Star Quilt Company with rick rack in the sashing (for stems):

Buttons for the flower centers:

A full view of the quilt top (which showcases Linda's Dye Frenzy fabrics beautifully):

SMILE, Linda!!!

Here's the book that Joanna shared with Candy for using as Modern quilting inspiration:

The news from the Eli Whitney crowd:

I was looking at the quilt photo's on the Uncle Eli's Party on Facebook and discovered a quilt that Ruth Simonet made for her granddaughter in 2013.  We have a celebrity among us.

Ruth Simonet, Her daughter and granddaughter, Deborah Hauser and Gayle Sparrow attended the party.   A good time was had by all.

(Thanks for the report, Gayle!)

Sorry!  No photos were available at the time of this posting.

Until next time...
Try something new!
