8/13/15 - CCLQ @ Gayle's

Today, 6 members of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters met at Gayle's house.

Coffee and munchies were followed by Show and Tell.

Are YOU ready to see what we've been working on this week?

Sure, you are!!

Candy is struggling with design challenges for this Pinwheel Puzzle Donation Quilt:

The CARS vehicles that she planned to applique just aren't working for her:

Aside from that, she was working on a Donation Quilt binding:

Jean decided what to do with the mono prints that had been taking up real estate on her design wall. She spent the morning cutting them all into strips for a Woven Lattice Quilt:

Deborah got back to hand quilting her Grandmother's quilt:

Gayle was working on the binding of her Quilts of Valor Donation Quilt:

Joy began the meeting by borrowing Gayle's cutting table upstairs and then came down to finish the binding on a small quilt (that she didn't share with the group):

Joanna was drawing all morning on another of her mysterious projects:

Today, Joy passed out Clue 2 for the CCLQ @ The Bluff Retreat Mystery Quilt.  Speaking of the retreat, HERE is a copy of the email that Joy received from Ruth S. earlier this week:

Well, hello to you Joy in NC,

Many thanks starting with the "Mystery Quilt" directions which I received last week.  Also, I want you to know how much I enjoy the weekly blogs you post.  You are not only a good photographer, your commentary is priceless. You make me laugh, you make me want to quilt more, but mostly you make me yearn to be with all of you (but here in NY).

I am excited about our retreat  and want to start preparing for it.  Any suggestions are appreciated. You said that you hosted a retreat in  the past so your help is welcome. So, who all is coming or not?  I knew the number would change with so much time between May and October.

Last week my grandson caught a HUGE salmon.  It is all cleaned, frozen and ready just in case my son doesn't catch a fresh one while you are here.  What diet restrictions should I be aware of?

My  greetings to the whole group -  wishing it were closer to September but not wanting to wish the summer away.

With JOY,  Ruth

In response:

Hello, Ruth!

6 quilters are looking forward to our September Road Trip and the subsequent quilt retreat at "The Cottage."  Regarding dietary restrictions of those who plan to attend, 2 are gluten free, but will provide their own starchy items.

Regarding meal suggestions for the retreat:

1. Breakfast - eggs, oatmeal, fruit, coffee (regular or decaf), tea
2. Lunch - sandwich/salad "bar", dinner leftovers, quiche
3. Dinner - Turkey, chicken, or fish, veggie chili/soup, spaghetti (meat separate!)
4. Anytime Snacks - TBD or we will bring our own.

More/other suggestions as we get closer to time and have the group of us together for discussion of more specifics.  Thanks!!

Other than that, we will be there to SEW and enjoy each others company.  We don't expect 5 Star service!!  We want to keep it low-key and don't want you going to very much trouble. We are more than happy to share the cooking and cleaning-up with you.  That way, we can ALL have FUN... YOU, included!!!

Looking forward to seeing you in September (or October for those not going to NY),
The Cherry Creek Lane Quilters

Until next time...
Anticipate quilting FUN!!!
