3/2/17: CCLQ @ Ruth S

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  Eight quilters joined in this week at the home of Ruth S. Six quilters returned on Sunday from QuiltCon in Savannah, GA and had wonderful stories and loot to show and tell! Ruth S announced that she has a big surprise and will reveal it at the end of the meeting.  Everyone was on pins and needles. 😊

Ruth's home is overflowing with beautiful quilts!

Look at this stunning quilt that Ruth made featuring the cottages at The Bluff.
Ruth also had a lovely notecard printed of this quilt.
The back of the card.

Flowers from Joanna's daffodil garden.

If we were at Joanna's house, this is what springtime looks like today. Does anyone see a quilt inspiration in this photo?

Cheryl started off show and tell with this photo of a quilt she plans to make.  She wants to enlarge the block and Joanna volunteered to help.

Cheryl traveled to Ohio recently and on her way back stopped at Batiks, ETC.  She found these lovely fabrics on sale!
Ruth S stitched away on a donation quilt.
Here's the front of the quilt. Oops...the back of the quilt was an accidental video which did not work when Deborah uploaded it to the blog.  Oh well...one day we may have a video on this blog.

Jean shared the Bernina Big Book of Feet, no...it's not a physical therapy book! This was her commission from the Bernina booth at Quilt Con. More about that later.

Candy showed her goodies from QuiltCon.

Candy got this fabric.

Candy purchased these very sharp snippers at QuiltCon.  They're made by Kai. She also got a Kai seam ripper.

Candy also purchased some 100 wt invisifil thread by Wonderfil thread. This thread is good to use instead of monofilament thread.

Joanna purchased some wonderfully bright fabric, thread and...
this book by Angela Walters.   Click on Angela's name to go to her blog.

Ruth B showed her loot from QuiltCon.

Joy would be proud....to see these tiny windmills Ruth made.

DeeDee shared that she has made pillow cases with zipper closures. She is also busy cleaning the shed for the Saturday Dye-a-Thon workshop on May 13th! Mark your calendar! DeeDee and Deborah had a field trip last week to Cary Quilting and Wish Upon a Quilt in the Raleigh area.

Jean has almost completed this wonderful feathered star!
Look at the close up of the feathers....

Jean purchased these gorgeous Cherrywood fabrics at QuiltCon.

Jean says she was just playing with fabric color combinations at one of the booths at QuiltCon, then the owner said, "That's a great combo," so Jean had to get these fabrics too!

The surprise!  Ruth S bought a new Bernina at QuiltCon!  Jean helped with the sale...that's how she got the Big Book of Feet from the salesman.  Jean and Ruth were going to play more with the machine after lunch.

This machine has an extra large bobbin for machine quilting and many, many other cool features.

Seven quilters ventured to True Flavors Diner in Durham which was too crowded so we dined instead at Benetis in Durham.

Until next time,  happy quilting!
