8/17/17: CCLQ at DeeDee's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week nine quilters met at DeeDee's house.

Cheryl's back from Ohio.  She has plans to go to the mountains for the solar eclipse!

Cheryl found this wonderful fabric for the back of the wedding quilt on a fabric therapy shopping trip in Ohio.

Candy sewed the binding on a quilt.

DeeDee found this Halloween fabrics for Candy at Wish Upon a Quilt Shop in Raleigh.

Cheryl bought these flip flops, but they didn't fit, so Britt was the lucky winner of a new pair of shoes!

DeeDee shared this flyer about a quilt show in Greensboro on Aug. 25-26.  Some folks in the group are planning to go.

DeeDee auditioned border fabrics for some printed fabric made at this year's Dye-a-Thon and Printmaking workshop.  The dendritic print is fabulous!

Deborah had some fabric therapy in Cary last week and found this  Christmas Fabric on sale!
Joy completed the quilting on her Bluff Mystery Quilt!  Good going Joy!

Close up of the quilting

Joy created another really colorful, big quilt using really big scraps!  This quilt started out as a picnic quilt.

Cheryl B worked on the hexagon quilt

Cheryl is restoring this wonderful, hand pieced antique quilt as a commission.

Joanna finished the Orange County EMT Chaplin/JuiJitsu quilt.

Britt's possible border for the butterfly quilt.

Britt asked for ideas about how to quilt the geese migration quilt. Cheryl B suggested looking at Natalia Bonner  or Gail Garber's work.

Britt showed this piece from the Art Bee Challenge which involved  a slice and piece technique. Should this piece be horizontal?

or vertical?

Britt made this sweet pin cushion for a friend.

The back has asterisks for expletives or for pounding.

The group had a fun lunch at Vinny's Italian Restaurant.

Here's another quote for the week: "In the crazy quilt of life, I'm glad you're in my block of friends."
