A brief gift distribution...
Joy made this Thread Catcher for Cheryl K. in December:
Dee Dee found a really cute kitty book for Deborah:
Dee Dee also shared this adorable knitty kitty fabric with Joy:
(Thanks, Dee Dee!!! It's PURR-fect for the knitter in me.)
Which led to...
Show and Tell.
Our hostess started us off...
Gayle had a TELL about the old adage "never say never". Pay close attention to the photo in her lap:
You see, she doesn't use patterns and she doesn't buy quilt kits. Until... she saw THESE blocks from Missouri Star and THESE fabrics from Craftsy!!
Block One:
Block Two:
Gayle also completed another quilt:
Let's take a closer look:
Candy picked this up for the knitter in our group:
Deborah made blocks for the Thomas Fire initiative:
I think Ruth S. is making friends with her seam ripper:
Britt was ripping out seams to re-use the pieces:
Joy worked on trimming up HSTs:
Deborah shared her purchases from Loving Stitches:
Ruth S. made some Thomas blocks and brought a jacket pattern (and the abandoned project) to Joy for finishing:
Here is a better look at Ruth's block:
This is Ruth S's applique project:
As well as a little something she's been playing with:
Joy announced that this will be her LAST meeting for the foreseeable future, as her schedule has changed. Members should look forward to a NEW blog mistress for CCLQ!!
Joanna made a couple of Perkiomen Valley blocks:
She's also working on THIS new quilt:
Cheryl K. wielded a seam ripper:
Joanna did some cross stitch:
Candy passed around this reminder and asked who was planning to attend the upcoming Pineapple SALE:
Speaking of Candy, she completed a new quilt top...
... Using Deb Tucker's Tri Rects Ruler:
Cheryl K. showed off her Thomas Fire relief blocks...
... And this partially quilted Hunter's Star variation quilt:
Here is a close-up:
She laid is out on the floor for us to look at the quilting:
Candy stopped her binding to see if she noticed a problem:
Dee Dee made several of the Relief Blocks:
She also made a NEW version of her Kitty Block:
Then came the ice and snow dyes:
Oh-SEW-beautiful:
I really thought I would recall which was which:
You can stop laughing now...
The folding technique that Dee Dee used on this one gave it a Shibori-type appearance:
Oh, look! Jean made Thomas Blocks, as well:
She also shared some Quilt Retreat information...
... And an easy Quilted Table Mat:
Jean ice dyed a 2-yard cut of PFD (Prepared For Dyeing) fabric...
... And talked about her process:
The photo below shows a closer look at Jean's Table Topper:
Britt passed around this book...
... And shared (?) the Relief Blocks she made:
She divided the collected blocks into sets and asked to see what designs we could come up with:
It's easy to orient the blocks incorrectly:
We finally settled on a preliminary design. It's the Straight Furrows setting, but Britt promised to try out some other layouts:
One of Gayle's birds came to say hello to the quilters:
Or would that be goodbye? Nine of the twelve quilters packed up to leave for lunch at Anna Maria's Pizzeria in Carrboro Plaza.
Until next time...
Quilt Happy!!!
